Hey, I have a question for yall out there.
To date what has been the most effective marketing/advertising tool to date that you have used? What has the public responded best to?

I ran naked at a football game waving my banner.

Got two calls on it. But I had to tell both fellows I was spoken for....

Seriously, that is a good question. Yellow Page ads are about the best I've seen. I have also seen flyers, posters, and internet postings to advertise.

One thing you might do is work with the city council where you live and get into their recreation organizations. That's a good way to get kids and families to come check you out.

Contact Napma - very good marketing tools. The membership is $79.00 per month and well worth every cent. I began the UBC Course and net an extra $7,000 per month. I also utilize their professionaly designed ads in my local papers - they generate about 40 calls per month which 75% are turned into active students-which more than pays for the cost of the ad.

Yes Poopy, but then you would have to change your small group training into line exercises.

I belong NAPMA also and they have great ideas. However, I pay 103 every month and they are raising their rates soon from 99 plus shipping to 125 so hurry and get in. You should also check out a book from turtle press called 50 low cost marketing ideas. This book has a great range of cost effective sometimes free ideas to double or triple your business. I have found that if your area has a local bulletin board channel or a paper like a thrifty nikel or impact or some 9-12 per week mail out paper this is a great idea. Off these two ideas I got put on the football posters of the 3 largest colleges in the state. That was just from advertising two weeks in the local mail out. I also advertised a seminar on the local bulletin board channel and got 200 responses in two weeks. The cost of that ad wa $75 for a month. I am, however, a marketer and the creation of ads comes easy to me. I would be willing to help you with some if you so desire. You can email me or look me up on AIM and I would be glad to help you with some ads.

an alternative, and cheap method of advertising, is to photocopy posters and put them up in high schools/junior highs. hundreds of kids will walk by them during the school day, probably about 5 times a day.

The best form of Advertising I have ever done is Demonstrations. Never pass up an opportunity to do demonstrations. But don't just go do your stuff and leave. Do your stuff then go hand out fliers to the crowd and talk to them. If someone is really interested get their name number and address and send them something and then call them.

                Free give aways work well.

and Referrals from your existing students.

Yellow pages are good if you have good copy.

Stay away from things that cost a lot of money except the yellow pages.

                  1. Yellow pages
                  2. Word of mouth

                  distant third, but very helpful...
                  3. Internet - I had my first site for a year for $10 total. Simple, and more than paid back my investment.

Remember - There is more $$$ in the cure than there is in the prevention.

An general MD makes less than 1/4 of what a heart surgeon makes...

A general attorney makes less than 1/6 of what a criminal defense attorney makes...

                      In our case:

Our clients invest $169 for group classes in defense training. (Prevention) 2005 avg was 18 per month = $3,042mo

Our clients who find us due to direct marketing of restraining orders filed in Orange county - Invest $499 for private defense training. (Cure) 2005 avg was 11 per month = $5,489

Also - We have established relationships with 6 of the top 10 divorce firms - Specializing in representing women - To include our information in their premeeting packets they send out to prospective clients.

You CAN market your business without advertising.

You can find more motivated, ready to act clients -

By thinking of your ideal clients -

And then finding out who also has the SAME clients.

Those other professionals already have an established database of clients -

And that relationship will make or break your ROI...

I can give you a few more ways to boost your marketing response -

But it's going to rain soon and we want to get out on the motorcycles for a while.

And they say it never rains in Southern California...

                      Thanks, Danny
