  • Let me introduce myself!

    Hi everybody,

My name is Keith Foster and I come from Co. Antrim in N. Ireland. I live in a villiage called Broughshane. I have been involved with the martial arts since I was about 12 when I did Wadu Ryu Karate until I was 16. This was greatly influenced by Bruce Lee, although not even the great man could keep me from the fleeing the traditional bondage of Karate. From that time I trained on and off at Japanease Ju-Jitsu, but it was so boring (no sparring) it could not keep my interest. When I was in my early 20's I took up Taekwondo which I loved, but the class was run down by a capable but dishonest and lazy instructor! Another gap for a while before a great instructor came to Ballymena (the nearest town) and everything was great for a while (i will leave that story for a while)
Anyway I am somewhat isolated from any JKD community, so I would appreaciate all the support I can get from the JKDU family.

    Warmest regards,

    Keith Foster

    Welcome to JKDU Keith!
I can't tell you how much I admire people like you. Far from any training, but you make the great effort to obtain the information so that you can practice and improve yourself. That is what JKD is all about! Please let me know if I can do anything to help in your quest, and be sure to ask questions as they come up. I look forward to meeting you in person someday. Aloha!

      Thanks Burton!

      Hi Burton,

Thanks for your kind e-mail and for the support you have shown me so far. I am so glad to be part of your organisation and I my wife and I intend to travel to Hawaii for our 10th wedding aniversitity. We got married on the beautiful island of Maui and we would like to renew our wedding vows there. So perhaps I will be able to train at your acadamy in a couple of years time.
Apart from showing techniques in the kickboxing range, clinch and ground, do I have to do any techniques in the air or hit focus mitts?
I look forward to moving up the Phases and getting to know as many people as possible in the JKDU family.

      Warmest regards,

      Keith

I'm glad to hear that you will be visiting Hawaii in a few years. You will have a great time in our class. When you send your test please include a two minute round on the focus mitts. Please show some punching, kicks, and some clinch. This will help me see your punching power and mechanics so that I can better coach you. Enjoy your training!

Welcome Foster, (this will be phonetic) Kay-me la foncha (1000 welcomes my friend, man I gotta learn how to right gaelic) Welcome to the JKDU ohana. It is good to have a fresh voice.

I am a dual citizen of Ireland and US. My wife has been bugging me about going there. I figure in a few years we will go. Maybe we can train a bit or just tip back a few.

I know no Gaelic what so ever, so im afraid so I can't help you out there.
I hope you can come over to train in N.Ireland sometime and mybe a visit to Las Vegas would be cool. Thanks for getting in touch with me as I need all the help I can get with my training. Have you passed the first phase yet? If so what all did you do in the 10 minutes you are allowed.

            Cheers,

            Keith

              Hi Burton,

What would you like to see from me on the ground? Can you give me a breakdown of what you want me to perform in all the ranges. I'm sorry to keep pestering you about phase 1, but as the syllabus has changed I want to ensure I do everything that you are looking for.
Thanks for your kind support and words of encouragment.

              Warm regards,
