am an ex-runner just recovering from some hospital time. thinking will kickbox train for resistance and flexibility. self-defense not really a consideration. to extent does, suits build (slight) and temperment. have found gym that liked, planned on starting within the week.

do have opportunity though to practice with a v well respected jkd'er.

curious - recognizing less interested in application than conditioning, and not interested in grappling - should take advantage of opportunity anyway to train with someone so regarded?

how jkd view beginning students - prefer ma background?

    maybe condition/kickbox train before jkd?

appreciate any consideration. again, not so interested in self-defense but recognize how encouraging a real inspirational coach can be.

    thanks

Know what your goals are, then choose the training that moves you towards your goals. By the way, grappling is an incredible conditioning workout! You should give it a try.
