I'm having difficulty finishing the triangle when rolling with strong partners who turn to the side and pass my legs. Here's the scenario...
I have his head and his right arm in the triangle, locked up or almost locked up. My right thigh is against the left side of his neck. I have broken down his posture somewhat, but he still has enough strength to turn hard to his right, pressuring down against the back of my right leg. If he is strong, he will often break my hold and pass around my legs right into sidebody.
What are some things I can do to counter this move? Do I simply need to apply the hold faster? It doesn't seem like that should be the answer, as I've seen many guys simply slap on a basic scissor hold around the head and arm, then slowly work, slowly adjust to get the triangle, never seeming to be in danger of having their guard passed. Thanks for the help!
