I am by no means a medical physician, nor do I even know if your question holds any accurate validity, but by guess (assuming it is true) - would be that having sexual intercourse raises your heart rate acceleration, and other bodily senses. I would imagine if you boxed after sex (how soon after by the way do you mean? 5 min? 10? 20? an hour?) - that if your body hasn't cooled down from the sex, then you could be more physically drained, and not last that long in the ring. Also, I would imagine your mind would be distracted because part of you might still be thinking about "How good of a f- you just had [insert time] ago."

Re: sex and boxing
Hmmm...back in the old days, they burned pigeon feathers under your nose, cracked holes in your skull to let the evil spirits out and set leaches and wasps on you when you were sick. Why was this?Originally posted by Lion-heart

The same reason why boxers weren't supposed to have sex before a fight.
Because back then, people believed in a lot of stupid stuff.

It seems to me that it might make you tired. And it might make you mellow. But I imagine that the confidence level would play a factor. After all, if you had sex last night, I am sure that you would be thinking to yourself how much of a stud you were. That attitude could carry into the fight, and confidence is always a good thing. Notice that I say confidence and not arrogance/cockiness.

you don't wanna be thinking about last night, you wanna be thinking about how you're about to beat this guy into submissionOriginally posted by foolsknight362

I read somewhere that sex makes men more docile and women more aggressive for a short time afterwards (like 6 hrs to a day I think). Of course, I can't remember where so there's a good chance it's BS. Something about a natural biological defense for women to get away and get nailed by more people while the man, being spent, isn't of reproductive use for a while. Like I said, it could be BS, but I'll toss it into the ring anywho.
