I am thinking about getting a free-standing bag so I can work on striking at home. Is there one that anyone would recommend? Any to watch out for?

Free standing bags have a base
If you are working barehand strikes get BOB. If your doing the kickbox aroebic thing then get the wavemaster. Fill with 220lb of sand and put a non-slip mat under it.

If you can really try to get a hanging.

you can fill them with lots of things. Sand works well and makes them pretty heavy and hard to knock over.
I like BOB, I have had two so far. But a bit pricey I sell them for 200 but they go for 300 usually.
Everything in perspective though, if you want something you can't knock over but don't want to fill you wavebag with sand. build a 2x4 square around the base and on the backside put out leg type things from it. Then it won't tip as much, but you will be limited to one side.
Or put it up against a wall.
Or just pick it up when you knock it over.
