  • Head getting jarred when punching?

Maybe it's because I haven't hit the bag in a while, but my head keeps getting jarred when I hit the bag, and it hurts. Is this bad technique, or what?

Make sure you're tucking your chin in, that's probably it.

Are you hitting the bag with your head or your fist?

Agree with the other post; define jarred.

            ...

There's a reverberation when I hit the bag, I know it's not a neck injury. Maybe I'm just not tucking my chin in.

I don't know man. You might want to ask a physician or your trainer. Maybe your neck muscles are underdeveloped? Maybe your back is weaker than your shoulders?

              Get a professional opinion.

I think it might be somthing that has to do with flexing your muscles when you hit. If you hit a bag with a loose fist you can break it, I would assume the same would hold true for the rest of the body.

I could be that you're holding your breath as you punch, creating lots of pressure in your head.
