How does a boxer get pay? Does it depends on the scheduled rounds they have?

The going rate for most lower tiered pro's is about $200.00 bucks per round.

If it's professional, it's all worked out in a contract. You, better yet, your manager, will negotiate your pay with the promoter and sign a contract on the agreed amount. The "going" rate, for starters, is about $100-$200 a round. You wll get paid for the entire fight, not per round. For example, you sign a contract for a 4 round fight at $800. You will get paid $800 whether or not the fight goes the distance. The business end of boxing isn't the greatest. All promoters are out to make money and some will try to "nickel and dime" you all the way or scam you all together. So make sure you CYA on the business end. Read the contract carefully and thoroughly; that's where a good manager helps.

So those it matter what weight class your in. Could a featherweight get more money than lets say a heavyweight if the featherweight has a better manger? Or does heavyweights get payed more then any other weight class? If so how come? Different weight classes go through the same pain as a heavyweight boxer in their own weight class do.

So if you have all that and if featherweight boxer gives a good show in every match he has he'll get paid as the same amount or more then some heavyweight.

I heard it best said by Bobby Chacon (my first boxing coach). Who would you pay more to see a Chihuahua or a Rottweiler. The same applies to people, that’s why the big guys get the big bucks. But from all my years of boxing, I think the most dangerous boxing weights are 178 to 200. There fast and they hit almost as hard as heavies. A lot of people look at some of these guys at the highend game getting 10mil or so and dont relize that there losing over 60% of that to the IRS, Trainers, cutman, and others. The guys at the low end getting less that 20k for a fight is working hard, hard, hard for their cash. Got to think of all the hours they are putting end, sparing, working out, running and god knows what else. Thats a steep cut.

Doesn't the boxers paycheck determine what rank he is in n whats his status? Like a 10 rounder in 28th rank get like around hundred grand. Or a boxer who is a PPV fight get like a mil.

It should, but look at Hopkins I think he had not made over 250k until just a year or so ago and there are other fighters who are champs in other weight divisions who will never see more than 250k or less. The tied sees to be turning, the belts are meaning less and less, its starting to come back around to where value is being placed on the fighter and not status. The worse thing a fighter can do is have a manger who is his promoter.

The manager’s job is to get the fighter the most amount of money, but it’s the promoters job to pay the least amount of money. Hmm, we have a conflict of interest when this happens. That’s why so many guys get burned with Don King.
