Hi im new to boxing and fighting I just bought a heavybag thats 150 pounds($200) Im wondering what the most useful combos are that I should practice. If you know any crucial stuff about fighting, defending, and striking please tell me so i can start practice. thanks

Hey Mike, do you know if there's a list anywhere of punches by number?

Also I was gonna ask, whenever I punch focus mitts my hands always start hurting after about twenty or thirty punches. Would wearing handwraps be a copout? Or would it help for protection while I develop more wrist strength?

Wraps help imo, you can wrap them more at places which are weakers for example your wrists and they won't bend as easy. When I wear them during my heavy bag training they make it much better.

I was talking about boxing!! (Not that I would ever turn down any information about anything Guro Dan ever did.)

Cool, for some reason I thought there was just one set list somewhere. What was I thinking?!

Why do combos finish with the rear hand?

Also are most JKD/boxing folks Southpaw?

I thought there would be a lot of value to being able to be good at both stances, because it depends on what your opponent's stance is, which pocket you have a weapon in, etc. which way you stand... However it seems that most people usu. primarily work just one side or another.

yep, any boxing combo that doesn't let me finish with a lead hand punch just feels wrong for me. Well not wrong but "incomplete". If I finish with a kick (kickboxing) that's ok though.. no lead hand needed then.
The lead hand hook is just such a great tool!
