I'm going to start boxing when i get a job as my parents already pay for my martial arts and i cant expect much more off of them and i've got abquestion before i start as preperation.

I already have gloves, focus mitts, hand wraps, punch bag and all that stuff from martial arts, and as preperation is there any combinations anyone can give me for the focus mitts as it might take me time to get a job?

Focus on things that you can do on your own, like fitness and conditioning. Your coach will sharpen your technique.

How's your wind and leg stamina? Can you run 2-3 km and not die?

How about your gut? Is it solid or jello like? You need a solid core for greater strength and so you can take a shot there and shake it off.

How's your coordination and arm stamina? Can you skip rope for 2-minutes straight and not mess up or die? Throwing a good punch is an act of coordinating your legs, hips and arms. Good footwork requires coordination too - skip rope for both.

Also Keeping those hands up is important as is being able to hit again and again without getting tired. Skipping rope will give you a good base of shoulder/arm strength and stamina for boxing.

    Good luck with your training.

I'm not an expert, so please take this with a grain of salt and seek others who are trainers.

Core refers to the muscles that make up your body's midsection and lower back. You can do situps, crunches, back extensions, side bends and other excercises to build up the core. You can also do medicine ball twists, situps with the medicine ball and leg bounces with the medicine ball (from your back).

A skipping rope is a jump rope designed for excercise. Its thinner and made of a denser material so that it cuts through the air rather than floats through the air like a child's jump rope.

Since its more dynamic, you can bang out high speed jumping working on coordination.

                Sorry - speed rope.

There's a heavy rope too; its more for building arms and is made up of thick surgical tubing filled with sand. Swinging it is like trying to skip rope with an elephants trunk.

Gotcha... you know I've seen heavy ropes before but I've never tried one; I should probably give it a shot.
