  • First fight

Okee dokee this thread has allready probably been done but not how im doing it. I aint asking for advice on my first fight coz my instructer can give me that and im also not asking for tips on what to do either. What im asking for is some good stomach conditioning exercises and ways that i can train by myself at home in my own time. All help is appreciated and i apoligize if my Qs are allready answered in some previous thread(s) that i may have overlooked.

One thing I did: When I would visualize the fight I would start to get 'the fear' and associated adrenaline response. So I made a point of bringing that fear on and soaking in it in an attempt to make it normal and comfortable. I believe that helped my pre-fight jitters.

My experience is that the waiting the day of the fight is the worst part of the thing. Once in the ring, it's the work you've been training for and 'the fear' goes away.

Expect to spend a lot of time waiting. Wait to weigh in, wait for the physical, wait, wait, wait.

Once you're in there, it's just work like every other day up to this one.

oh yeah..very important thing that screwed me up, if youre the kind of guy who gets carried away with his emotions you'll need to work on that in the ring during the fight, especially if you fight infront of alot of people.Whatever you do man, don't ever look away from your opponent, and dont let the oooohs and aawwws of the crowd impress you.You need to keep your cool at all times and never get mad.

and also think about rationning your stamina..you dont wanna run outta juice.

and hit HARD,this is no sparring session anymore, you must kill the guy

I remember watching a program about stomach muscles. It showed people hanging upside down from a bar and then doing sit ups. The trainer just cringed as he watched. He said the best thing for abs is normal sit ups and a good diet. I find the easy way to deal with pain to the stomach is to take more pain. Eventually your body will be packing out so much testosterone by the time your in the third round you wont feel it. But body punches in my opinion are the hardest to hit anyway so dont worry about it.
