  • Best practice bag for a 12 year old

My son is 12 years old and his loving his boxing, I bought him a cheap practice punch bag when he started but would like to know how to step it up a little. Any advice would be appreciated. I have a high cieling in the garage which I can hang it so there is no problem with space.

Get him a decent full size heavy bad, 70-100 lbs, Make sure to hand it so it can swing freely, if you use a stand it won't train his foot work nearly as well. You might want to consider a floor to ceiling bag as well, but the heavy bag is more important. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about the speed bag, but that's just me. Does he have a coach? The best thing you could do would be to get him a membership at a local boxing gym, if he doesn't already have one.

What is your son's height and weight? I would stay within 60% to 80% of body weight.
