hell yea, i did.
i knocked out this guy and at first i was like
"yea what! talk shit and see what happend!"
ok, then my hand started hurting... i broken one bone.. if you stick your right hand out and see your hand..look at the fourth finger but start counting from your thumb.. thumb is 1...fourth finger before your pinky.. that finger.. under my knuckle.. the bone broken.. they gave me a cast all the way close to my f.uckin elbow..
when it healed it wasn't the same but now it's better.. i thought it would never heal and be the same...
when that happend, i was training hardcore with my left.. my left hook, upper cut , faints to set up the left.. .. they got way better
lol
the cast was on for 40 days.. it was not worth the cast!

I know someone who does Black Tiger Kung Fu. He regularly punches a bed of nails as well as speeding bullets, so his hands are really well conditioned. Yeah right.
Anyway, enough of the sillyness. I have hurt my hands whilst punching, but never broken them. I do have scars on my knuckles though. And Mike Tyson broke his in some street fight did't he?
For a while I was researching using other parts of the hand with which to strike, trying to forget punches totally. But I lost faith since I knew of no other style that did it. Until I found Close Quarter Combatives. It might not be as good as Black Tiger Kung Fu (what is?), but it is the art I have always looked for.
Palm heels and Axe (Knife) hands are the way to go for me, but we are all different. I emailed Geoff Thompson on this very issue. He was kind enough to reply saying words to the effect of it doesn't matter which strike you prefer, as long as it does the job and suits you. By the way, he prefers the punch.
My Palm Heel strike is as hard as any punch I have ever thrown (and I can hit hard), and I realy can't imagine ever hurting myself whilst using it. Unless I hit a bed of nails........

I like boxing a lot. But it has some problems:
1. Risk of blood mixing. Without boxing gloves a bare-fisted punch to a bony area such as the face can produce lacerations and cuts to both parties. I live in San Francisco, and the LAST thing I want to come up with is HIV from a fight.
2. Risk of fractures. Carpal bones are little bones that can and do break. Without the protection that comes from hand-wraps and boxing gloves the hands are much more vulnerable. That said, all of the Thai camps I've trained at expect you to continue fighting after breaking your hand.
Consider the following piece of advice: Use a hard object (fist) to attack a soft target (body, groin, ribs), and use a soft object (palm, hammer fist, arguably finger jab) to attack a hard target (such as the facial bones, jaw). You might consider hardening your hands, but the medical evidence about early-onset arthritis is pretty clear. Alternatively, you may consider using offensive tools which do not require hardening--because they're already hard. Shins, knees and elbows are in this category. However, due to the risk of blood mixing, it is not recommended to throw elbows without a heavy shirt or coat. But, having said that, elbows work WELL.

finger jabs and all that other s.hit aint an option. the fools in l.a. sometimes when they are real ill ... i've seen fools... bam out with one shot.. fools fight wild.. it's simple to say do this and do that.. until you do .. i've been in lots of fights..
i'm telling you unless you get a first shot off by suprising him.. the adrenaline is going to be already pumpin.. the concrete is under you and it's going to you or him.. no time for all that shit when conditions are like that.. plus the police!! oh hell no...

Once an ex-boxer sprained his finger badly by hitting my face in prearranged sparring. I think it mainly happens when people have not developed a reflex pattern that makes them close their fist and keep the wrist straigth. That is probably at least one very good thing I brought with me from traditional karate.
