never heard of throwing knives? It's actually fairly popular in asian martial arts weapon training. Maybe you should know what you're talking about before you post and im 16 if you really need to know.

Great, a 16 year old who has seen too many Kung Fu movies is telling me about slicing open the faces of distant attackers with metal playing cards, a la a character from Stan Lee comic book. Just when I thought that the martial IQ of the majority of the posters was on the rise...

Gee, because it's popular in Asian martial arts training means that it works. That would be just like point sparring and kata practice, right? I didn't say I haven't heard of it. I was implying that it was not a worth pursuit, which it is not. If you want to use a projectile weapon, buy a gun. Most knives are not meant to be thrown, and do not fly very well. In addition, you obviously have no idea how difficult it is to hit a moving target with anything.

Even if you could throw one, you would be better off holding onto it. When you miss, you'll lose your weapon. Secondly, even if you could do it, hitting someone in the back with a knife as they fled the scene would put you in quite a bit of trouble. You may as well call prison and make reservations.

You continually tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about without providing any useful information yourself. Don't bother posting on the forums I moderate. You won't last long if you do.

Yea Or I've been taking ninjitsu and Muay Thai since I was 6. It's funny your telling me im not providing any information about myself when you havent said anything about yourself, and btw I've been praacticing card throwing for a good 3 months and a friend of mine has been doing it for a few years, I've seen him pierce housewalls and people's skin(by about half an inch because he didnt want to seriously injure the person) from long istances of about 50 feet so dont tell me i dont know what im talking about. And how do you know its not worthwhile, have you seen anyone do it? No so don't talk, youre the type of person to say something doesnt exist because you havent seen it, unless you actually have some experience in the matter don't even voice your opinion.

That would be just like point sparring and kata practice, right?

Those are exercises, what exactly are you trying to say by that? Kata practice is a safer method for practicing sword techniques, what does it have to do with anything?

Do you think that the fact that you have taken Muay Thai and Ninjutsu makes what you say hold any more water with me? I hope not.

Good thing your friend only allowed the card to go half an inch into his target's skin. Anything deeper would just be dangerous. How stupid are you? Do you realize how deep half an inch is? It's pretty damn deep.

It's funny your telling me im not providing any information about myself when you havent said anything about yourself
I'm the friggin moderator. Do you see how many posts I have? Try reading a couple of them to learn a little about me. I'm tired of repeating myself.

Put down the hash pipe, hash puppet.

I really liked the whole idea of using playing cards as a deadly weapon. So I thought it warranted an addition to my sig.

I'm a devoted student. If only hashpuppet would teach me.

                      Off Topic

There are several trolls that post regularly - some of them are people who take on several user names or perhaps share the same cubicle.

There are regular posters who use colorful language here and there but they are regular contributors, not just posting opinion polls.

The Trolls goal is usually the same. They try to BS their way into a thread, get as much attention as possible by talking smack and love smoke & mirrors. The minimum requirements for most threads are having access to a computer and basic English literacy. The assumption is that everyone on the site is a practicing martial artist.

Suppose your martial arts school (one listed in the yellow pages) had to register you for this site and verify your registration via your instructor and Tim - i.e. once you register, you must be approved with your instructor and Tim (or 2 moderators)? Afterall, most martial art circles know who each other are. Thus the minimum requirements would be raised to being enrolled (or formerly enrolled) in a legit MA gym with your words representing the school to which you are a member.

IMHO If Jon/Jane Doe can write well constructed opinions verified by his enrollment in an MA gym, with his/her relative experience being transparent and with good research, it would reflect positively on his/her gym and build some serious bridges in the MA community.

Throwing knives can work well if you become proficient at drawing and throwing at close distance. LMFAO 50 feet throwing ****ing paper cards . they travel 60 mph? The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away theyll not stand the judgement of Jah.

                          Tom,
Many forums that have serious members have taken the path that you describe. You need to apply and be approved for membership before you can post, or even view the forums. Not a bad idea, if you ask me. Only drawback is that it will keep out beginners that truly want to learn something.

I think it's a necessary evil... something that comes with the territory of having open and free discussion.

Hasn't ruined anything for me. I kinda like the comic relief of this one.

yea half an inch is a lot, that's probably why the person had to go the emergency room and by the way it his his upper arm/shoulder area which is all meat so it was a good attempt on your part. By the way just cause you have a lot of posts means what exactly? Youre a professional forum surfer? You guys really talk a lot of shit, but I bet none of you have heard of it or atleast seen it so why dont you find out a little more about it if you think im such a bullshiitter, try running a search on the net or something.
