  • Mighty Butterbean!

In boxing, Butterbean has been the last man standing in many a tough-man competition. He's HUGE!

He fought Larry Holmes (69-6-43KO) last July and despite taking some of Holmes's better shots, he went 10 rounds with the former champ! Unfortunately, he lost by TKO in the 10th but the man went the distance.

He also won a 2nd round KO during a K-1 competition against a decent heavy weight kickboxer.

Anybody in their right mind would be foolish to trade straight on with this guy. Holmes strategy was to make Butterbean move and nail him with rapid fire straights and it worked. This was reminiscent of the Ruiz-Jones Jr fight.

What I want to know is what the hell is Holmes doing fighting still?? Isn't he like 54 or so?

I'm more impressed a guy that age could beat the tub of lard. And with a TKO at that. I can't imagine the sort of force it'd take to knock Butterbean senseless (especially given he probably is senseless to begin with...). But, yeah, he's big, he's strong as hell, and he's likeable (well insofar as giant toughmen can have charisma). But I don't think the guy has any clue what a jab is--his offensive repetoire seems to consist of wildly swinging left and right hooks. But when you are that big and strong I don't think it matters whether you've got an ounce of skill or not.

Yeah, its the Tank-Sapp-Butterbean syndrome. Throw a punch with your weight behind it and hope it lands.

Actually Sapp worked with Mo Smith and has been studying Seidokan Karate in Japan so we will see more skill.

          Toughman.... erk

I would like to see a real, MMA take on Butterbean. Just because he is a jazillion pounds doesn't make him invincible. It would be a good fight though. Sell well on PPV.

The huntington beach bad boy, Tito Ortiz, vs.......
The one, the only, the excessively large,
          Butterbean!

            A....Tito Ortiz sucks...

B....Butterbean like many people said is not that good.

He is a large strong guy who if he hits you your world might end, but anyone who gets hit by the slow moving behemoth deserves their world to end. BB would not do well in a real MMA compition, simply becuase he would end up on the ground and I severly doubt he could get up.
