Bri, Like I said presiously I don't agree that WC is not a complete fighting system. But I definately respect your opinion. i think you made a far better effort that I would have to study at three kwoons, granted it is difficult to find the right one and you have to "shop around" for any style. Many people have opinions of TKD and have not trained in TKD just from what they see so at least your experience is based ..... on well ......... your experience. Just as my feeling about WC is based on my personal experience

here is the answer to a FAQ taken from the above mentioned website (Manchester WT):

"Q. Is WT good for self-defence?
      A. WT is taught to special police units all over the world. Indeed, in Europe over 75% of the elite police forces are taught WT or at least combine WT techniques with their unarmed training. It is a tried and tested system that really works."

Is someone going to pay a visit to these guys to 'test' it?

You have to agree that if you train any Martial Art then it's mote likely that you know what to do in self-defense?

Actually I totally disagree with this. Totally. Effective self defence is taught in a minority of traditional schools. The shite commonly taught will get you killed, and you would be far far far better off just steaming in like an untrained ruffian.

That is the least credible thing you have said.

Emma, whats up li'l girlie? If someone doesn't like WC, does that mean they can't know anything about stretching?

Where did I say "effective self-defense"? In general it's a fact that if you train anything psysical it's more likely you can just run away from the place before the situation escalate. It's better that you know some martial art then knowing nothing at all if you can't, for any reason, run away.

When you say effective self-defence, what do you mean? Effective against what? Let's say a WT guy has no other option than defending himself with the skills he know of. His chances are probably better than a non Martial Artist, cause it's not very likely he will meet an aussaltant who is very skilled in, let say Muay Thai. The ausaltant will probably be suprised instead. WT practioners are very aggresive on the outside. If the WT guy however needs to defend himself against a MT fighter then it does not depend on the style, whether the MT or WT guy wins, it depends on the practioner.

            Little Demon,

Dynamic streching for the lower body works pretty well. For the upper body the first form performed very slowly might also help you .

              Ouch!!!!!!!

well got back from martial arts class barely in one piece recieved a nice thwack right on the inside on my left shin now i dont know if its fractured or not because it soooo swollen and painful ive iced and and rubbed radian B onto it and put my ankle support over where its bruised because the bruise is on the shin just before where the ankle starts..

What should i look for if it may be fractured, also its very numb not like normal bruising.

The number of your local radiologist to get a XRAY. If you are walking you may have just brusied the bone, still very painful. But if you have a hairline there is not much to do but if it is any worse you should go to the doctor.

Saucy, now you're being ridiculous. Are you winding me up? If you say a guy 2knows what to do in self defence", that clearly implies that he will do the right thing, that he will be effective. If he is NOT effective, then he clearly did not know what to do.

Now you are being benighted. Try to keep this discussion at a respectfull level and stop insulting people who doesn't share the same opinions as you are. Open up your mind, otherwise there is no point discussing anything at all.

Jesus this is really making me mad now can't we just all agree to disagree! you acting like a bunch of kids in fact not even they would behave like you all are, everyone trains different fighting skills, do you think that with me if everyone horse rode the same way there would be room for improvment? No it's only through experience and our own capability to learn and train that we know which style suits us best. Everyone's going to have their own opinion on different martial arts styles but that dosen't then give you the right to enforce this on other people making out that what they train is crap! or not as good as your own style! We are taught not to fight for Ego or personal gain and if we do then what does that make us!

So shut up and change the subject ok!

                        Emma,

                        • I like the bit about having an open mind.

It was opening my mind that caused me to see through my instructors propoganda in the first place. Remeber, I'm the guy thats had the wide variety of both training and experience. You're the guy rehashing what your Sifu talls you.

I may be insulting of course......

                          Dim wit!

After long and careful consideration, I have decided to decline your polite offer.

PS - Tell Saucy here how you wander around the garden in your blind fold. His Sifu might think its a good idea.

I'm afraid I'll have to decline your preliminary advances.
