I run a small Shuai Chiao group in Hammond, IN just over the border. The fee is about $ 100.00/year (I don't charge, that is the gym fee) and you must rovide your own insurance (medical and dental)

I also train Muay Thai and BJJ at Torres Vale Tudo in East Chicago, IN. Price is $ 40.00/ month there/

In Naperville, Brian Eble runs a fighting Long Fist school and of course, Wai Lun Choi is on Irving Park Road if Internal is your flavor.

i take classes in fox lake illinois and its about 90$ a month for one class a week.

Judging from what you mentioned of 90/month for once a week, I would say that was relatively high priced. I assume if you live that far out in the 'burbs, coming into Northwest Indiana would be out of your region. There is a school there that is very reasonable in Whiting, IN. The instructor is very friendly and the school is very relaxed. The school is called Center for the Arts of Wisdom. Hope that helps.

I spoke to the teacher there in December about setting up a SC program. He told me had had a Wing Chiun guy who might be interested, but the program was probably too physical for his guys.

The Center wont teach you how to fight or defend yourself, but the people there seem to have a lot of fun. The teacher also has an excellant Taoist Yoga program. He's one of the most flexible guys I've ever seen.

Yes, The Center has perhaps 1-3 guys who are slightly more aggressive than the other students. The school however, does have a legitimate system of training. It is not exactly the same Wing Chun, Ving Tsun many are accustomed to seeing, but it is Wing Chun nonetheless. Same thing with their Shaolin Gung Fu, but compared to other schools and systems of Shaolin, they are good choice for regional interest.

Don't misunderstand me Bro. I'm not slamming the school. I've pushed with the guy before, he has decent push hands, and as I've said, his Qi Gong program is top notch.

But you're not going to see anyone from his school fighting in the Iron Heart Crown anytime soon. That's the distinction I was trying to make.

Oh dont worry man, I didnt take offense at all! I know where you're coming from. I agreed with your assesment, the school is not likely to train with harder sparring. But in terms of teaching forms, application, and what-not they are reasonably priced and convienent for anyone in the south suburbs or NW Indiana area. At least anyone wanting to learn an internal style of gung fu.
