Pull your head in mate, it was a genuine invitation to come and see a demonstration of Wing Chun, an invitation to which I have made other times to other people who have taken up, I am always happy to share my knowledge with others who are genuine about learning an art or having their questions answered. As for challenging people on the other side of thesplanet, what an idiot you are, first of it wasn't a challenge and secoindly, I said "IF" you are in Australia, Sydney because I have n o Idea where you are from because you have no location in you public profile. And if are the kind of person "keyboard warrior" who would end up slanging over the net, then it is a cse of the kettle calling the stove black. You have a big mouth, and in my experiance, when living on the streets, we never worried about the big mounths, because they never had the balls to carry through with anything, its was the guys who kept to themselves we worried about.

For the record I've been a cop in the UK for 20 years, and may well have had one or two little skirmishes in that time....... I have also "been there and done that" with Wing Chun. It certainly is not the art for me, and I haven't seen any evidence of it's effectiveness neither.

Open mind? I was open minded enough to walk into Wing Chun in 1983. Does that count? The fact I rejected it does not mean my mind is not open.

Been there and done that with Wing Chun, I certainly cant say that with my wing chun training which would be considereably more than yours. Pride is a dangerous animal Thai, it blinds eyes that say are open, you are a an absolute moron, of all the morons I have met on the internet forums, you are right up there with the best of them. You havent been anywhere or done anything with Wing Chun.

I am not disputing the fact that you think it is ineffective, if it wasn't for you then thats fine, but dont think you are anywhere near apt to judge the system after so brief a time in it, because you are not.

hey could you tell me which elements in any wing chun form have a ground application as i am familiar with the system and would like to know.Also do you train under jim fung i think he is in sydney thanks

Wing Chun can easily defeat any ground fighter with its ancient anti grappling. Many time William Cheung has been attacked, and no one has veer taken him down.

But it also contains theories that transcend all fighting (from unarmed to nuclear way). The yeilding and redirection principles from Chi Sao from even an intermediate Wing Chun practitioner will overcome any BJJ black belt, unless he cheats.

Look, I respect wing chun and all, but you have to admit that learning to defend yourself on the ground is very important. Doesn't wing chun have take downs? Yeah, they do. What happens if you get taken down by another wing chun guy? You better get him in your guard thats what. Look, all this anti defense stuff might kind of work, but nothing is 100%. Blocks are supposed to be anit-being hit defense, and how often does that work, even during chi sao. It all depends on who has better skills at what. Is my skill at blcoking better than your skill of striking? Is your anti-grapplying skills better than my take down/grappling skills?

I mean, heck you could even be wearing your slippery kung fu slippers, or slip on a banana, get assulted by a cheater. Bottom line, don't knock something you don't understand.

Really? So you challenged all "comers" to Grappling Rules or MMA rules or what kind of rules? What were the conditions of these challenges?

Unless he cheats!!! Then what you call foul and cry.. Come on anti-grappling is not ancient unless you are 10 and think someone that is 30 yrs old is ancient. It is a direct response to grapplers and has more to do with marketing than functionality. Maintaining your base is good WC not antigrappling

If somoene spends 1 yr with WC as a dedicated student the failure is with the instructer and the student has the right to be critical. I did not have that same experience but I anothers experience.

Like all myth and legend behind Wing Chun there is not one credible source that links or names speed of learning as the foundation of WC. The foundation is built on simplicity, efficiency and economy of motion, which may have the intonation of meaning it can be learnt quickly, however you will find it takes a long time and much energy to "strip away the innessentials" I do agree however that ultimatly it does come down to both the teacher and the student.
