Why are you so fascinated with William cheung? he is not even sticky with his chi sao. all he has is speed, and there are a lot of faster people than him. His pressure point knowledge is limited, he doesn’t even strike the points correctly. Iv been with Sifu Joe Sayah for a little over 2 years and when i went against someone from the other lineage that I do right now i got pushed around like nothing by someone who has been going there only once a month for a year. Iv been training on average 5 hours a day for 2 years 6 days a week. I couldn’t do anything. After I was shown what I’m training now I made my mind up to quit what I was doing on the spot. The principles are just completely blow away William Cheung’s system. These guys did not even do any techniques on me! They just used their body to suffocate me. I couldn’t do any techniques because they did not give any room for them. That is true wing chun.

Was that the seminar at Sifu Eric Oram's school? I went to that dim mak seminar and all cheung did was demonstrate the same shit we do in class all the time. he just added a phoenix eye or digital thumb strike instead of a punch. He cant even explain anything correctly. This Sifu that comes down from Chicago to teach us gave a seminar were he is showing things and explaining in detail, correcting everyone and going in depth why you do things a certain way. If you do something wrong he corrects it right away. Its more like military style seminar. A lot more gets covered that way with more understanding. William cheung's seminar he shows a technique then you grab a partner and do it, but its really the same thing you do in class just a strike to the temple or like the back of the head.

Im not going to go into in detail but there were no thai kicks involved. Also TRUE wing chun does not included any boxing movements. The WC system does treach a different style of punching that other styles do not. The chain punch is an effective training tool. You wouldnt use this punching method for every attack but it does teach one to develop fast, fast, fast hand speed that a true wing chun practicioner shows while in attack mode. But I wont defend WC through and through. Ive ssen verteran WC practioners get their ass kicked in a street fight. Which goes to show you that its not that art but the person that studies the art that makes it effective.
A thai kick is not that hard to figure out. many kung- fu systems have that kick as well as other strikes found in mui thai. You cant categorise strikes as being either from this style or from that. A punch is a punch, a kick is a kick, a good punch can only be done certain ways , as can a kick.

No, it was at Goh's gung fu in Baltimore but since I was cross training from JJJ I got more out of it than you probably did. If you take wing chun in class you should attend seminars from a different system. I don't go to jujitsu seminars because it's all old to me.

This is a really cool thread. But i have a couple of questions.

1, Earlier i saw someone mention Boztepe as a thai boxer who beat cheung, so i looked it up and it seems his main style is wing chun not muay thai?
Plus he has a steven segal pony tail in some pics

2, Whats the deal with Wing Chun then? I always thought there was no doubt that it one of the best SD systems around?? i'd never heard anybody dispute this until now so i'm a bit confused. Ive never studied it but i've always been impresses when i've seen it.

3, How different are the different types of Wing Chun??
Boztepe did wrestling and boxing at the time and he just pushed william cheung over because william cheung doesnt even know how to stand properly. How can you throw an effective punch or strike if you cant even stand? none of the guys from my kung-fu school under Sifu joe sayah could stand properly. Now i see that after being humiliated by beginners in another wing chun lineage. No root at all in gm cheung's lineage. He doesn't understand the concept.

            • I already quit at that school a few weeks ago, now i train in a better wing chun lineage and some other stuff including some boxing

                • 65 actually. And why should i give him respect when he doesnt even give respect to the other lineages of wing chun? He is not the best person in the wing chun system, but he claims to be... There are tons of people better than him. He changed the form over 5 times! how is that traditional? He calls every other lineage modified when he had modified his own system many times!

Your profile says youre 18 or 19. Have you heard the stories about GM Chueng in his youth? The one's where they had a Hit out on him in China? Grandmaster Chueng was a BAD MO FO!!!!!!

                    • Well you can believe all the stories out there but it doesnt change the fact that his lineage is not as effective as he claims it is. Iv heard stories were william cheung backed down from fights like when him and hawkings cheung were supposed to fight some people and william cheung never showed up hawkings cheung showed my friend his scars to prove it.

                        • TWC can work against a common person on the street but against some other wing chun systems it wont work.

Your statement is too broad and too general.
