I thought that Praying mantis was Tang lang. That might be a different dialect though. Chinese is hard to learn because of all the dialects.

I heard of one school here in Alabama but they seemed to be nothing more than some kind of karate or kickboxing and not really Praying mantis. I heard it is a real style but is rare.

It is tang lang. Sifu John Funk is a good source on the style.

and that is one of my formula to catch up a true or a fake kungfu pretenders.... you can easily catch them when they say "I am a Mantis Style KungFu Expert" then i ask him "translate it in Chinese" then he reply "Tang Lang Chuan" then i ask him "nnnooooo..., translate it in Amoy" then he could never make it...... in Amoy Dialect it is called Chit Chiee Tong Long Kun (7-Star Praying Mantis Boxing)

                Note:
in fighting with a Mantis Style KungFu opponent:
                1. Southern Style Praying Mantis KungFu - they have a good hand attacks
                2. Northern Style Praying Mantis KungFu - they have a good foot attacks
                3. 7-Star Praying Mantis KungFu - they have a good mantis grabbing hand techniques

i dont know other mantis kungfu - every mantis kungfu have their own unique approach to combat..... they have their weakness and advantages to discover, to learn, in order to defeat them using your kungfu advantages and not showing your weak moves.....

you know, it is really important here in the Philippines just to catch-up those stupid FAKE KUNGFU instructors and schools who claim themselves master of kungfu particularly "wingchun".........

they know how to translate the title of their art in chinese (e.g. wingchun, taichi) but the contents of their art is mostly in English context.......
