I think Thai Bri got influence with the Iraq prison scandal, " Americans full of homos & lesbians nothing but sex", that is what the Iraqis are thinking now.

Sherwinc- As far as the movie goes it’s a ballet with swords.

You see these carefully orchestrated, choreographed, performance art demonstrations in the movies or in the park and you believe the shit. No wonder you have such a warped sense of reality. Hmmmm….. Maybe if you practice enough you will be able to walk up walls and run across the tops of bamboo. Idiot! Don't confuse fantasy with reality.

And as for weaponry- I'll see that sword long before you see my .45 hit center mass. Sig 45 superior to wushu sword. Convinced?????????

        • Sherwinc, your society is more prone to people housing daggers, small swords and blades of all sorts.

In some places in the US, you can legally carry a concealed handgun but will get harassed if you have a 14" machete even if its in a sheath hanging from your belt. In an instance where both people are in close quarter fighting range and the gun slinger and machete guy have to draw, it will go to whomever is fastest.

The big fancy kung fu broad swords that you talk about would not be a weapon of choice to carry with you either here or there. Do you walk around with your sword?

You are probably better off with a kris, balisong, hunter's utility knife or even a machete - heck even a set of wingchun butterfly swords. I'm suprised that in a country with its own efficient weapons systems, that you choose flashy kung fu weapons.

            Yep!

If the sig 45 is loaded and is being used within a 10' radius or larger, its gonna win.

If both guys have to draw at an instant, it could go either way. The only way a blade would have an advantage over a gun would be in a 5' radius and the blade weilder can draw and slash with split second timing. If the blade is heavy enough and sharp enough, it could take out a forearm.

There is truth in what you say. As a person who does not assume anything I will not assume I could win absolutely but I do believe that a gun fighter can draw his firearm faster than a sword can be drawn by virtue of its size.

However personally I think distance is the key here. A firearm is a distance weapon but it can be used at close ranges as well, even extreme close range.

If I were the one being attacked under the circumstance you related I would first act/react if time/ distance/ my reaction time allowed, I would run around a obstacle- Table, tree, car, and etc, so he could not strike me with his sword then I would draw my weapon so I can be out of his range while he'll still be in mine.

But A draw at close range between a trained swordsman and a trained gun fighter. I believe it goes to the gun fighter. Maybe we need to test the hypothesis huh?

I totally agree with what your are telling sherwinc. I personally have bought many knives while in the Philippines, so they are readily accessible there. I have questioned sherwinc on this subject too. But he never answered.

              • You could use a paintball gun with red dye and the machete weilder could use a special foam carved into the shape of the machette. The foam can be pre soaked with red dye that only comes out when it comes into contact with something (kind of like that applicator you find on the shoe shine bottle)

You measure out two lines of tape, one 5' and the other 10' then create a circle around both radii with either chalk or paint. Both fighters have to stay within the 10' radius. Both fighters have their weapons concealed and are wearing protective eye wear.

When someone yells go, both guys draw and see what happens.

If the gun gets hit by the machete, then the machete guy wins. If the machete gets shot by the gun, then the gun guy wins.

Any machete markings on the arms or paint pellet shots on the arms or hands give 1 pt (simulating a serious injury).

Any other areas give 2pts (fatal injury).

I grew up hangin' with the Flips, Cubanos and Chinos. Anywho, kids in the barrio like to collect different kinds of blades for show.

                      Education?

Are you trying to be better than everyone else? That's wrong. Your supposed to poke fun of new & different things and keep an isolated & quickly judgemental state of mind...jj.

And who says that cooking squid is a bad thing?

There's something instinctive about climbing trees. Well, you see in my avatar that I am a harry, wild sort of fellow.....now they just use me and abuse me for frat party appearances
