Obviously the Shaolin Fist guy will win... especially if he is a monk... hasnt anyone ever seen that one episode of Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.... Where Quai Chan Caine totally destroys that huge guy in that cage match street fight... man that was sick... obvioulsy judging from that show Kung Fu is the ultimate MA and should not be messed with.. that one was almost as impressive as when he went back in time... man that guy was good....

(just soooo the idiots out there dont yell at me for this... ITSA JOKE)

Seeing that they can resist half a tree being banged against their belly, suspend on a spear, break a piece cast iron over their head and more of that sort of thing, nobody should be able to harm them

Or am I being sarcastic because I'm fed up with these Shaolin demonstartions showing only these kind of tricks and hardly any fighting apart from the 2 young kids doing some carefull pre-arranged fighting on poles ( are these the plumflowerposts?)
Most are solo demonstrations meant for the Ohh and aww effect
It will impress laypeople and even some martial artists
But lets face it the Ohh and Aww effect can be achieved by Mexican luchadores too, in fact seeing that they have to work together, I'm more impressed by their performance than the Shaolin demonstrations by people presented as monks but that only entered the monastary to learn Martial Arts

I think the point of those demonstrations is because itsa show... how many people do you think would come watch some old monks fighting each other.. and for like a half hour they just feel each other out and block any advances... wouldnt be very entertaining if you ask me... if people wanted to watch fighting and not these demonstrations... theyd go to UFC or something like that...

The kung fu nutriders need to chill out and look at other styles more objectively, instead of saying "well, you didn't study the "real" kung fu." or "the 'real' chin na is a complete grappling system." I've crosstrained in JKD and BJJ, and they do offer something to complement any martial art.
Grappling is last priority in those arts, which is why you haven't seen it. Hsing Yi does have some pretty good joint locks, takedowns and ground joint-locks, and some of it is just like BJJ.

Alex, I know that Hsing-I has joint locks, and it may look like BJJ, but it's not BJJ.

Where do you people get this crap from????

Ohhh my bad ,i forgot that most ppl spend their time just talking on forums and don't have anything to back what they say up with.

It's funny i've only done some high school wrestling ,so i don't know any submissions ,but with that and my CMA knowledge i held my own against a Bjj purple and blue belt. I was only tapped when i rolled with the black belt instructor. And all commented on how great of a base i had.

                  That is totally untrue!!

Many CMA styles will gladly grapple before striking ,it's just not going to look like Bjj. Most CMA styles will grapple ,but unlike Bjj they do not want to "stay" on the ground.
