  • Fatshan MA - oh dear!

I was just channel hopping (SKY tv) whilst waiting for my dinner the other day and I found this channel called ACT tv or summink like that, anyways there was this FAT, unfit (heavy breather, and sweating with little movement ) bloke doing some EXTREMLY crap Wing Chun demo.

He was just literally touching he's students whilst they entered he's attack zone with singular gay attack and yet soon as the students were parried with a Pak Sau, they were then doing superman impressions and flying across the matts like the old Peking Opera style films of the 60's & 70's.

He's movement wasn't just bad, it was complete rubbish Here is yet another example of rubbish WC being displayed by some OBESE Steven Segal look-a-like, Jeezus no wonder 80% of the MMA world laugh at traditional arts when such displays are televised

Generally I don't give a crap what ppl think of WC as I ain't no prodigal son for the system, but I personally think WC organisation needs to unite and get rid of the crap of so called (Obese, untrained useless) Sifu's in their system and try to regain some respect in the MA community.

Oh and BTW - how the hell do these crap Sifu's manage to get TV coverage.

How can the WC system unite against this rubbish when the vast majority of them are practicing it?

Man I'm on nightshift - hope you are at work anyways you have pointed out the obvious.

I remember in the old days we use to visit other clubs just to see what their WC was like (all done in a humble & friendly manner) and we found 95% didn't spar full contact and I remember some did no proper sparring at all but just Chi Sao. What is the point of that, 20-30 mins of every class should include full contact sparring.

I'm amazed ppl still buy the crap some of these fat instructors manage to sell - just complete rubbish I suppose SELL being the key element in the BS that is sold to Joe Avg

Yip Man must be turning in he's grave

I'd love to find good Wing Chun. I looked, honest I did.

I reckon it went the way all popular arts go. Money takes over. Instructors want alot of students, so they make it easy so that no one will drop out.

Well my friend you may be in luck - I teach only privates and this includes a few of the guys at the BTT club in MK (2 who are competing in the UK storm next Saturday). But Bedford is a long trip for you, I will eventually open the 1st MMA club in Bedford (when time & circumstances allow).

I teach WC in a non traditional manner - no forms, just the motions & techniques then into FC sparring to hone it all into your being. No air punching, full mitt work, Heavy bag work etc.

Wow! He probably is a nice chap. It seems (in my opinion) a lot of guys on this forum are experts in taking the piss out of themselves. I just read the 'Kung fu better than Karate' post, the comedy value is great.

Haven't anyone of these guys heard of Mas Oyama, this guy killed a guy in self defence with 1 punch - but I suppose the Chi gods will defend it with their Aura.

Personally a good WC guy will have studied Muay Thai & grappling at some point. Also a good deal of time sparring full contact with ppl from other styles will help the WC guy understand what will and won't work, cus on the street there is no time for 'Arm Chair' theories.

PPL who practice just Chi Sao in class are in for a rude awakining against a 'aggresive' street fighter type, so please either enhance & incorporate your training platform from tough systems like Muay Thai & BJJ etc, train hard in reality and argue less on the internet.

Disclaimer - The above is just my opinion, each to their own.
