because his Karate are not pure, most of his moves are learned outside of the club.... probably he know the limitations of their Shorin-Ryu Karate moves.....

the only Karate moves that i learned from him to perfect on executing is:
      1. The Leading Snap Kick
      2. The Leading Side Kick

and the only Tae Kwon Do moves that i learned from him to perfect on executing is:
      1. The Jumping Spinning Back Trust Kick to Solar Plexus

      Note:
with his only 3 kinds of kicks like that....... most of my kungfu moves are beatable with this Karate snap and side kick and TaeKwonDo Jumping spinning back trust kick ....... THAT IF YOU KNOW HOW TO APPLY IN A CORRECT TIMING.......

but he really wants to learn my ChiDianBun KungFu and some of my Minor KungFu Arts cause he believe that it is an added advantage for him.....

      and he did it........

      Note:
The only best theory that i always remember when he teach me before, he said "Attack me using all your KungFu tricks, and i will intercept it with only 1 alphabet - THE LEADING SIDE KICK"

and i am convinced with it.......

His Three kinds of kicks is seemed Illusion "Shadow Less kind of kickings" none telegraphic kind of kicking........

so, for me, it is best to combined it with my non-telegraphic Chidianbun hand alphabets and that is the reason why i also study his best moves.....

for i believe that one of the best strikes is "shadowless or non-telegraphic to the opponents eye"

That's a good point, but is it ALL really that useless? My point was that, even though I've never studied traditional kung fu, it's hard for me to believe that every technique is crap. Shortcomings should be assessed and gaps filled with whatever can fill them. 'sall i'm sayin.

Defend against what? Here is an article that should serve as a wake up call to all, specially to those who thinks that there is a suprior martial art style then the other.

"We all know that a month ago on Friday, August 1st 2003, the famous Fairtex Muaythai fighter Alex Gong was shot dead in the middle of a busy San Francisco street after he chased down a hit-and-run driver who had slammed into his parked car. The fateful incident took place just outside the Fairtex Gym. He was 32 (same age as Bruce Lee when he died). According to a witness account after Alex caught up with the driver, he tried to put his arm out to stop him, but the driver pushed him back and then shot him point blank. After that the crook simply backed up and drove off.

Alex Gong's lifeless body (covered) being watched by cops on the crime scene.

This shooting inevitably brings to mind the issue of guns and martial arts again. In the immortal words of Bruce Lee in a 1972 interview: "I mean, nowadays, I mean you don't go around on the street, kicking and punching people....(pretends to reach into his jacket for a gun) because if you do....(pulls out his imaginary gun and pulls the trigger) pow! that's it. I mean, I don't care how "good" you are."

Alex Gong in action. He was no doubt a magnificent fighter in the Ring, but his skills failed to protect him in the real world this time.

The truth is, no matter how strong or invincible a martial artist is, he is still no match for one single bullet. One may spend an entire lifetime training to become the greatest warrior, but it could all be ended in an instant by a lowlife criminal with a lousy pistol. Surely, all things are impermanant.. Alex lost his life in a single moment of anger, bringing all that he had built to an abrupt end. What then, is the meaning of all the hard work and sweat one puts into martial arts?

Through Chi meditation, these Wudang Taoists are able to reach a higher plane of consciousness.

The answer lies in two words: The Tao. The reader might remember what I wrote in my earlier writing "Killer Intent & Martial Science". Indeed, training to fight, conditioning the physical body, even conquering many opponents in the real world or in the Ring; all these are part and parcel of any serious martial arts practice. But that is only the superficial level of Budo. The true essence of Budo is actually to train one's mind & spirit, to develop a higher awareness of all things around us, whether they be coarse or sublimal. Through Chi meditation, stilling and focusing the mind, one can acutally sense things that ordinary human beings cannot. But what is Chi? Many people, even martial artisits still do not understand the concept of Chi. All things in the universe, whether living or inanimate, big or small, have its own eletro-magnetic field or EMF. It is the energy that runs through and substains everything visible and invisible. The ancient Taoists who first realize the existence of this universal EMF named it 气 "Chi". And Lao Zi, the founder of Taosim, called the mysterious Way which this energy worked - 道 "Tao".

The Kung fu answer to bullets is the "Magic Talisman" used during the Boxer Rebellion.

This is what will happen when philosophy & spiritualism are taken off from martial art & fighting is their only concern they become " souless & misguided fighters", this people will never find contentment but will always seek confrontation & possess an attitude of contempt & hostility. They will never have peace, & will always be seeking something that they themselves don't know what they are searching for & become lost in their own arrogance.

Bjjexpertise - I love that book. Its my all time favourite. Ippon Kumite is where the two "opponents" square off. Onbe plays attacker (and I use the word "play" on purpose, because this is just a stupid game) and the other "defends"...
I loved the story but hated the message it was trying to send.

As for Ippon Kumite, does the attacker have a weapon to fight with or is he just supposed to take out the defender?

Both know what attack is coming and, just for extra safety, the attacker is so far away that he has to step right in in order to get in range. So this highly telegraphed, already decided, attack comes in, and the other guy blocks and counters. And this is suppsed to be effective training........

Tee Sok - that does sound nice, and they seem like great people. But was the training realistic?
Hey there. He was teaching just straight forward techniques: front and side kicks to the knees and groin, direct punches/palm strikes to the head and plexus and pushes. With us, the training wasn't realistic (for obvious reasons), but judging from the bruises his disciple had on his arms and legs his training must be quite realistic. But I think the training methodology is less aggressive from the one you have in USA or in Europe. He gave us his business card and it said "Tai Ji and Fighting" only.

Ippon Kumite? Its from Karate mstly, the art of the Empty Hand. Its usually all hand to hand stuff.

Well, supposedly, the author was trying to say that the government is trying to make everyone alike in every way and no diversity from person to person and that we have to stand up and fight it. The Combine is the government and Nurse Ratched is an agent of the combine. The patients in the ward are the people controlled by the combine('us"). Throughout the book, Nurse Ratched sought to destroy the patients' moral and had them conform with one another. She tweeked with the patients' medication, blared the same music over and over again as loud as it goes, and she would hold the daily group meetings that were supposed to be 'therapeutic' but was actually used to have the patients turn against one another.

McMurphy is supposed to be one of the few who has resisted the Combine. As the narrator(Chief Bromden) says, there was something special about McMurphy. Although he doesn't say it exactly, it is implied that what makes McMurphy strong is the fact that he is who he is. He doesn't try to be somebody he's not and there fore he has nothing to hide and is what helps him resist the Combine.

Alright I'm rambling so I'll try to end it in a few sentences or less . For most of the novel, McMurphy was 'fighting' Nurse Ratched(agent of the combine). He was making her life a living hell and undoing the hold she's put on the patients. Although McMurphy dies in the end of the novel, Chief Bromden/the narrator, takes the control panel(symbolizes the control the Nurse has over the patients) , hurls it out the window and escapes back into civiliziation.

So what the author is trying to say is that we have to resist becoming a victim of conformity and fight the government for freedom and diversity.

Back to Ippon Kumite. Well if it is all empty hand attacks that makes the whole point of it pointless doesn't it? The fact that the 2 people are facing one another doesn't help either. If you want to practice/prepare for self defense, you have to factor in weapons, adrenalin rush, and the element of surprise.
