That was not full contact, + they kept asking each other if the other was alright when he would get knoked down. The WC dude was really sloppy and his guard was almost always down. His kicks werent that good either. Also the WC dude wasnt really agressive.

Just viewed the clip.
My thoughts are that, if this was full contact, then the two "combatants" could not beat my old Aunt Nelly in a fight. And she's been dead for 25 years!
Much flicky wristy flicky kicky in evidence. No injuries to anyone and, generally, appeared to look like a poor version of a semi contact bout.
The guy in the white T shirt occasionally put a move together, using forward drive and aggression. But he had no power in his strikes and, of course, a "break" was called when it went to the floor.
Now these guys may not pretend that thsi is an example of good technique for the street. But, if they do, they need their heads examining.
Studio Buddy. Just get in Tim's club and sweat. The results will come.

this clip, to me, really re-inforces the need to train in something that offers modern reality training. Whilst I do find many of the TMAs and particularly CMAs very aesthetically pleasing, upon seeing this clip and taking a good look at these 2 guys, even a dumb ass like me could whack em into next week without breaking a sweat. It seems that the styles used here actually limit them from moving 'freely'.
This being said, I will still keep the clip in my collection and am glad for it being put here because now I/we have seen some Mantis in action.

you know studio, maybe the clip just showed a couple of bad practitioners of what could be a perfectly good art, especially if a modern SD approach is taken.
Don't pay any attention to my moaning about the clip/style, you might have found a good school, so go for it mate.
6 days per week sounds serious, you should be able to really check it out thoroughly.
I am increasingly aware of how difficult choosing a style of KF really is due to the overwhelming number and variations of them (thousands probably).
I have been told by a friend to go to one of his Choy Li Fut classes with him, I will do this at some stage, I hear it is a good style.

Actually, I would simply consider that clip as sparring and I think they considered it sparring as well. The Mantis guy had clear shot of the WC guys head and pulled his kicks. This is the way you sparr I would say they were going about 60% just working techniques. Though I thought the WC guy was horrible.
