Have you ever notice a general trend that fat teachers are fake teachers, (there are some exceptions of course)?

I've trained under two chubby teachers and admittedly with the first I was extremely skeptical. I went in for my first Meibukan Goju-Ryu karate class in Okinawa after participating in Muay Thai competitions for several months and doing pretty well, so I guess you could say I was a little cocky when I went in there. The teacher was a pretty portly guy named Wade, one of those big bear-looking guys but with a real pleasant attitude and taught elementary school at one of the nearby bases. I didn't think too much of the class but I was interested as a friend of mine took it and they did a lot of body conditioning in it (it was a two-hour class, and the first hour was always body conditioning, i.e. banging shins and forearms together, kicking the inner and outer thighs, abdominal punching and the such).
Once we started that class, boy did I get humbled though. Wade would sit there and let me hammer away at his thighs with my best Thai kicks, which while far from the likes of Maurice Smith, still hit pretty damn hard. He barely blinked whenever I kicked him, and his shins and forearms were like steel. He'd practically tap me with a thigh kick and I'd drop like a sack of shit. And once he demonstrated a roundhouse kick on a large industrial fan and bent the sucker in half off of his shin, well, needless to say I don't underestimate a chubby guy anymore.
One of my current senseis is a big, happy guy, real stocky but you can tell he likes his seconds at the dinner table. I love the guy, he's a great man, and for as big as he is when you see his taijutsu (total body movement, basically his flow when doing movements or in fights), he is so smooth and light on his feet it's sick. So never underestimate a chubby guy

Chubby Guys
Agreed. Being in MA overtime, you can never tell how a person fights based on their build: chubby guys can move light and quick; thin guys can hit hard. These cases are mostly reserved for really experienced guys though.
This is loosely related to your thread, but a long time ago, some dude in the gym asked how much I could bench; I just kept my mouth shut and said "not as much as you, chief." It turns out we workout with about the same weight (225lb) on bench................only he's about 70 lbs heavier than I
