  • I Give up...

I do...I can't find crap. I just moved to Kenosha, Wi... And I can't find anything other than like 20 tae kwon do places. I wanna learn JKD, Wing Chun, or Ninjutsu, but I can't find and instructors or anything! Can someone help me? Cuz if not, I think im gonna quit trying, becuase I'm 16, and if I can't find something soon, I will be like 50 by the time i'm good at any martial art. HELP!

I dug around and got these Muay Thai gyms for ya:

Wisconsin Milwaukee Phetnoi Muaythai Camp Kickboxing Muay Thai 111 W.virginia St. 53204 +1-414-319.1151
Wisconsin Waukesha Medina Thaiboxing & Boxing Gym Muay Thai 240 Cutler Street 53186 +1-262-524-9799

Both are about an hour from you. I also got:

          Sage Arts Unlimited
Jun Fan Martial Arts, Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts, Kali , Doce Pares, Shoot Wrestling, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Savate, Panantukan, Personal Fitness Training, Letha Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Massage Therapy
1579 South 38th St. - Upper Level, Milwaukee, WI 53215 USA
          (414) 331-3296
          Anthony Sell
          anthony@sageartsunlimited.com

Can't say whether any of these are any good, but from what I was looking around for, seems like you're off in the boonies. And if you think an hour's too far, a buddy of mine in our dojo drives 3 hours every Saturday to go train for two hours, just to drive all the way back. That's dedication

you cant give up. It really is impossible. The harder you try to give up, the more you'll want to get back into it. If you cant make the hour drive yet, I would suggest sinking you money into buying training equipment for yourself. Set up a gym in the garage or basement. Keep up on what you were instructed by your previous teacher.

This would just be the money you would otherwise be spending on instruction. Buying one thing at a time really will add up, and you can take these things with you when your older. You're only 16; in 1 or 2 years you'll probably be headed off to college, or working. If you live in the boonies, you'll be driving an hour each way to get anywhere, even work. By then you'll be able to train anywhere you'd like.

In the mean time, do what you enjoy. And you really seem to enjoy Martial Arts.

                Kenosha Bujinkan

                Hi folks,
I really appreciate the reference to my dojo in Menomonie, (seems to be from an old source because we teach Bujinkan Monday thru Friday)
                but...
Mark Hodel is smack in Kenosha and is one of the "old timers" in the Bujinkan.
                His info is:

and he is a really nice guy.

                W.Kent Bergstrom
                Shidoshi/Bujinkan Budotaijutsu
                Kaicho/Yamamizu Renmei Bujutsu

                  Hi,
I too live in kenosha WI, and unfortunatley there isnt much to offer, but i know of a mma place and theres that Bujinkan place.

i go to a shaolin kungfu school in fox lake illinois which is a 45minute drive from kenosha.
the address to my school is:
                  13 Nippersink Blvd
                  Fox Lake, IL 60020

im not sure where the mma place is but its called Dave Strassers freestyle academy.

Masterdan, some of the greatest martial artists out there didn't start until in their 20s, so don't worry; 16 ain't late to start!!

How about just find a boxing club and train there while you are looking for the TKD or whatever? Judo club? Wrestling club?

Those 3 disciplines (I think) give you the fastest learning curve. More sparring, more matwork, more in your face etc.

TKD is of course good, but is $$pensive and a lot of places here in Vancouver seem over hyped. Just MHO
