  • somthing i saw on the television

i was watching some programme called 'mind body and kiss ass moves' the other day and for anyone who ain't seen it, its basically this guy going around the world checking out different martial arts or styles of fighting. any way the guy went to some place in china where there was a guy practicing DIM MAC, (thats what it sounded like i don't know how its spelt) yea so anyway what it basically was, was apperently through using che like in accupuncture but to harm insted of heal he could allegedely kill people with a touch or make them pass out by disrupting the flow of che.
i was just wondering if anyone knows anything about this sorta thing because it sounds kinda 'fist of the north star' sorta thinging (not trying to offend anyone it may be a legit martial art) i was just wondering is all coz i know jack about chinease martial arts.
also does anyone believe in che or is it like a mental thing where your beleif in che has a placebo like effect on you giving you more confidence (again no offence to people who believe in che or its effects) i'm just wondering is all coz like i said it seems more like martial arts fiction (it may just be my ignorance)

dim mak/dim muk is very real for both harming and to heal, though best to stay away from the myths of TV and anything shaolin beause they are fake. These points are usually pressure points/ weak points in your body, glands or vital organs.Depending on where and how hard you hit these points depends on your result.

cid, I have been watching that excellent series of documentaries, they are with a guy called Chris Crudelli, he is an accomplished Martial Artist and spent years in China learning CMAs and Mandarin. He is a brummy guy (from Birmingham for those non uk) and i believe he teaches MAs there today (UK).

i think that guy demonstrating the Dim Mak strikes was very real and what he did was strike pressure points very accurately using what appeared to be Combat Tai Chi, yes chi is real but dont expect the yankee boys on here to understand it , they are too dumb, and busy chewing gum, chewing baccy & drinking Moonshine (like in Deliverance).

You could clearly see the effect that his strikes had on the recipients and he had to then hit them again in a corrective manner in order for them to regain balance of flow.
I say it is very real and if you remember, there was only 1 person per generation actually taught this.

This docu' series is very good and Crudelli goes around various places like Hong Kong, Phillipines, mainland China, Okinawa and Japan, he also visits many places throughout the UK.
All in all very well made, but then its British of course.

In an old ( what's old) BBC documentary series called "the Way of the Warrior" one episode is about Shorinji Kempo, there you see pressure points being instructed at their Instructors school
The teacher demonstrates on a caucasian person, he give a lowkick, slightly above the knee, not even that hard, and the guy can't stand on that leg anymore.
He also knocks out some other guys, immidiately reviving them, actually having problems reviving one of them strait away
The knock downs and outs, weren't the thing that was instructed, the reviving was
the legkick and other stuff was instructed but not to knock out but to stear in the right direction
Pitty my tape is of very poor quality, the reception af the BBC at that time was rather snowy ( and that on cable) and therefore the VCR started acting up ( not getting aa sync signal)
Otherwise I would have capped it and put it online somewhere
                Great series

I've never seen the series, but I've got the book of the series! It's excellent, and it explains how the knowledge of accupressure points and how to strike them is common to many martial arts, including Kalaripayit in India, Shaolin and Taiji in China, and something-or-other in Japan. The points of the body are the same in all these arts, so either the same knowlege has either been discovered indepentantly, or (more likely) it has been transmitted from one country to another along with the basics of the martial arts.

Well, you could follow your own advice there. Or do you think that your childish stories about buried guns and sword fighting are of interest to anyone except your sad self?
