well I do as well think that you sifu got what he deserved but in the same way I feel really bad for him even though he got what was comming to him, I would expect a sifu to tell the challenger to wait after class or schedule it or something because if I was a sifu I would really focus on my own training and the students who attend the studio. some challenger would be a least of my worries but I would still respect his art. I do as well think you probaly went to a numbo jumbo wc studio, but I do believe there are a few really good wc studios around L.A that I know of, but MT is a really good choice as well , if your still looking, you should as well try JKD. but I'm really sorry about what happened but at the same time it's really an eye opener.

if you already enrolled in a studio, tell us your experience about it

Did you ever practice Billions of English Words before you know how to talk?????????

      me??????
i only study 26 English Alphabets, and when i now learn these 26 Alphabets, i can truely speak and write Three Billion English Words without thingking...... and using also 26 English Alphabets... i can still talk and write Millions of Filipino Words.......

      Got It??????????
The english language has about a million words. The average person knows around 20 000.
Being able to speak and write three billion words without thinking is really something to be proud of. I wouldn't want to play scrabble with you.

it is only a kind of example, whereas, even my English is so poor, haw haw haw

now, if we compare it to martial arts techniques learned....... you have to master your 26 English alphabets in order to Speak or Write WORDS fluently(unlimited).... same also in fighting with the use of the "Alphabets" that i mean........

it's not because you know all the words that you can speak, you must have a good syntax, martial art is the same, u may know all the kick and punch, but if you dont use them in a good way, it means anything...like words

For the guy which his teacher got beaten up, it's not because your teacher lost against muy thai, that kung-fu sucks! It always depends on the person and not the style, damn it why cant people understand that ? Like in everything thing in life, it depends on the person, some are good, some are bad.

The reason why your teacher lost, it's because his training was less effective than the other guy, it doesnt mean that his style is less effective.

It's like the guyz that think that taekwon do sucks against muy thai because the saw a stupid video with a red belt that got beaten up really bad against a mt guy! It's like come on! The guy wasnt even a black belt. Besides, I think that to be a master in taekwon do you need something like 7-8 dan... Im not sure

If you want to be really strong, you should pick the school that have the toughest trainning program. In my old wing chun school, I could get beaten up by a 15 years old guy, man it even hurts when i tried to block, so i guess that it depends on the training.

I was fortunate enough to witness a "Instructors exam" in Muay Thai last year at the Hun School in Princeton New Jersey. That Muay Thai dance is a sacred part of the art and taken very seriously. It was even part of the exam. The tester was the "Great" Ajarn Chai Siruite {sp} from Thailand. The test lasted about two hours and it was awesome. The testers beat the living shit out of the people who were being tested. The candidates couldn't even walk afterwards. They all passed; but Ajarn Chai gave us all this big speech about how" You Cannot Buy Credentials from him; they have to be earned." Muay Thai is very serious, as is all, arts. The wave of the future is "Cross Training" Those who do not cross train will be left behind. The world is aways changing-you must adapt to the change.

So the MT guy was actually thai? Awsome! I thought he was just an american who trained in thailand for 10 years. And your instructor is a chinese man? Cool. So it was culture and fighting vs culture and fighting!

i always wanted to learn martial art for self defense and health but i never did any research into what to take. i went into wing chun not knowing what to expect and so here was this teacher that taught it for a low monthly price, and i thought cool i'll take that for a bit. in the first two months i was thinking he was ripping us off because all we did was the first form, syu lem tao. it got boring and the only contact we made with each other was chi sao and some cool slapping moves. so prior to leaving the kwoon altogether i was given the impression that wing chun was nothing more than a martial art strictly based on slapping. i wanted to continue in case later on the sifu would show us something cool, something effective. but that came crashing down on me and the rest of us who felt the same way two months after i joined the school, when that MT guy from Thailand showed up. i really don't care how many "alphabets" the other styles have cuz the MT guy with how ever many he had spelled PAIN, HURT, KICKURASS for my former sifu. oh and i didnt mention this earlier cuz i didnt want it to be the focus of the thread but the reason why the MT guy really put the hurt to WC man was because WC man made snide remarks about Thai women being whores in his conversation with the MT guy. THAT's what got the MT guy so into spelling HURT and PAIN for my old sifu, and that's another reason why i left. what added insult to injury was that the MT guy did a little dance before he got up and launched combos into the sifu. it looked like he was worshipping something, then stretching his limbs. the final blow was an elbow to sifu's nose followed by a wicked round kick to sifu's head which sifu tried to block but the MT guy just broke through it anyway. and when he left he told ALL OF US that our kung fu sucked.

Your sifu sounds like a prime arsehole and deserved every ounce of pain.

What WC school was this and where?

And all he taught you in two months was how to slap someone....damn, half the girls in bars in the UK can do that if you say the wrong thing.

You sound like you're better off out of there...best of luck finding a better school...can't be too hard given that little experience.

Or you could do like countless others and post polls about "Is muay thai really that effective?" and then discuss it on forums for ever and never get around to doing it.

Just kidding man, I hope you try it and enjoy it. Good luck.
