  • lau gar first set

    Hi,

I've just started Lau Gar kung fu and we've been partially shown the first set. I'd like to know the full set as it is easy to practice at home. So far I know:

Ready position > Pushing down the Tiger > Beauty Looks at Mirror > Willow Palm (across body) > then the hand is pointed downwards into a kind of hook hand/crane beak hand form and moved back across the body.

That's as far as I can remember. Can anyone complete the set for me?

    Thanks

    HM

Ask your sifu, the guy's only human you know, not some magical mystic being. For a starter you sure want to rush it! It is better that it is done slowly and with correct movements than to do alot of blurry movements.Quality is more important than quantity!

I would, but it's a week til my next lesson and i'd like to practice it. I already practice my horse stance, punch drill, basic kicks and punches, and basic blocks (i started a few weeks ago) - practicing the first set seems like a good warm down.

Any other suggestions on what to practice at home would be much appreciated.

      Thx, HM

I've been going to my sifu once a week for the last 2 years and my technique is almost identical to his. Maybe I seem to practice like a perfectionist but I have found this way, although more boring, it stays in your mind longer and the quality is much better.

but do you have one-on-one lessons or are you part of group? Personally I'm in a group and there isn't much time for one-on-one sessions. It would just be good to practice the set at home.

its a groupie session of about 8 people max and goes for 1 hour.the best part of it is when I use it on my friends for the rest of the week and then suprise them again when training time comes again.
