chuck zito who used to be head of the Hells Angels used to be van dams bodyguard. the story i heard about the incident was from chuck himself when he was on the howard stern show. basically chuck saw van damn at a strip club, and went to say whats up to him, but van damn was being a dick and started disrespecting chuck, who proceded to beat the crap out of van dam. chuck zito trains in martial arts himself, and being a former hells angel, is one tough mofo.

yeah but I also heard that VannDamm was drunk at the strip club as well, but I also believe that Vanndamm is a pretty tough guy himself he too was in the hells angels, but I haven't seen anymore of him after that incident, though he did star in alot of good movies, my favorite has to be "In Hell" and the Legionaire". it would be a shame that one incident ruined his career

Personally, I couldn't see Chuck sucker punching Van Damme. One thing I can say though about Van Damme: He was a serious prick when he started snorting "cane" up his nose earlier in his career. He's even mentioned it during his recent interviews.

                WC street fights

You first should always know that at least 80% of all fights go to the ground. Being a good WC practitioner isn't enough for a skilled street fighter. Sure if you know the fight is about to happen you'll be able to defend and perhaps end it before it goes to the ground. But there's always that asshole who will hit you from behind or you might even slip/trip for unforeseen reasons. There are some WC ground drills that some sifu's are aware of and train religiously. Others just stick to lightning hands and destructive kicks. Anyways, I guess what I'm trying to say is, fighting isn't fair, hit first, take the guy out immediatly, and get away. Also don't just hit and then wait for his next move hoping you can bil or kwon your way into your next strike. I've seen alot of guys who will successfully land the initial blow then stand there. A kick to the nuts won't always cut it either. I kicked a guy square in the nuts, and he didn't even flinch(of course he was jacked up on hard drugs) point being he kept coming. I saw once you start punching, don't stop until you know he can't persue you anymore. Any if you were the one who started it....well then I hope the guy ground and pounds you.

                  almost forgot

"Van Damme went on to study classical ballet for five years, and eventually put the combination of his athletic abilities to work in the martial arts action films for which he is famous."

If I'm locked in a room forced to watch Van Damme movies, wake me up for the parts when he's getting his ass kicked. That way I can have a little giggle before falling back into a boredom induced comma. Thanks

If you guys care to get back on topic...
I used a lop sao and had it work...repeatedly, in a fist fight. Of course, I was throwing crosses, straights (not really jabs) and hooks too. (and SLAPS...which actually worked suprising well, and didn't hurt my knuckles...just like a left hook, but with the palm)

I saw it as an opportunity to test drive some stuff...a flying cross also worked...a'la muay thai.
