Police Officers Train in King fu?

I hear alot of sifus train police officers in some sort of kung fu and I'm sure some do. is that something you would take into consideration?. and is there any police officers or any law enforcment agents who can tell us what art/style they train in

One of my Sifus taught the police in Bei Jing. It was mostly Chin Na. Locks and stuff. That's also done in Hong Kong as well.

Right now the three biggest forms of Kung Fu being taught to police are Wing Chun, Baji Quan and Bagua. The Bagua is more from a theoretical perspective, one american Sifu has adapted Bagua sword to the pistol. It's... interesting.

Josh, what style does your sifu train in?

I can sorta understand how wing chun may work since it is really about eliminating your oponent in the shortest time as possible, alot of people fail to realize, that alot there are some joint locks that can be very useful to police officers. but the problem is that I don't really know any cops who train in kungfu, i was hoping cops will post their experience about being a kungfu prac and a cop

yeah thats really interesting. From what I know, martial arts aren't really taught to cops like that. They have a board of people that formalize their own system and teach it almost like a self defense seminar.

I mean, face it. People are more afraid of you if you have a gun rather than just martial arts. Both would be cool hehe

They don't train in Kung fu

Hello, Its my first post here. From what I know police officers DO NOT train in Kungfu. The reason is that they are not suppose to be offensive while facing a suspect. They train in more defensive sports i.e "Ju Jutsu". They are taught boxing, blocks and locking techniques. If you know Kungfu, its great buts not something they look for while hiring an applicant. They prefer teaching the would-be-police officers thier own way of defense.

Officers Train in King fu?

I'm fully aware that kungfu is not always offensive. But the fact is that in Canada police officers are not trained in Kungfu. I am talking from first hand knowledge. They are taught lot of take down techniques and locking tactics but not kungfu.

When one becomes a cop, one has to really watch his/her actions. Anything thing can turn into a lawsuit.

I know for a fact that the Chin Na, especially that of the famous internal arts are empasized in the police force of China and HK. Having been raised up there, I should know. It is often that people neglect Tai Chi/Bagua/Xing Yi as Kung Fu. But the modern and most accepted definition of Kung Fu is Chinese Martial Arts.
