  • Dragon Kung FU

    Hey all,
Where can I find a good DVD or video on Dragon kung fu? I can't seem to find ANY on the web. And Im looking for training not movies

Green dragon ? Swimming dragon ? there are MANY Systems of kung Fu with many sub catagorys...Rarely if ever will you find stand alone animal being taught. As a rule animal systems require EXTREME training to ever be combat capable platforms. Do you already practice a style of kung fu? Are you looking for self defense or a hobby? sorry so many counter questions but thats a wide open question.

The question you should really ask to yourself " Where can I find a good loong ying master?" Training videos are for pop tart couch potatos, being trained by a good teacher is priceless.

Training videos are for pop tart couch potatos. Well I am an overweight couch potatoe and there is no kung fu where I live... so a nice video or dvd would be great.

        Thanks for replying though.

If you are an overweight couch potato save your money, Any animal frolicking is going to be beyond your ability. maybe some tae bo instead Seriously though
whatever gets you off the couch is the "best" thing for you to start with.
Maybe find a military fitness/fighting system to jump start your metabolism and give you some sense of fighting before you try to specialize. Kung fu is VERY complex , without a very good foundation in its fighting methods and theories you will be lost. video can help once you have a grasp of body feel and mechanics but before that it will just give a false sense of security and bad kung fu...BTW this applies to most any martial art not just KF. Good Luck.

well shoot. If you don't know then just say so...lol

I am not trying to learn dragon kung fu so I can kick ass nor am I trying to learn it to be able to defend myself. I just never see a video or dvd teaching dragon... Lots of crane, tiger and snake not so much leapard. I am just trying to learn and see much in my life. As a couch potatoe I cannot leave the house to go to China....lol

I'm just jk. seriously I am looking for a good dragon or leapard vid.

            thanks again

First off, there are MANY dragon styles, some encapsulate the *essence* of Dragon, others are just called Dragon, such as White Dragon (pai lum), which has not much to do with Dragon Kung Fu. Youve got:

                - Dragon form from 5 animal Shaolin
                - Southern Dragon system
                - White Dragon
                - Dragon lineage of bagua
                - Dragon form in xing yi

Second, if youre wanting a true "dragon" form DVD, would suggest starting with something like Tiger, or even leopard. Dragon movements are quite advanced, and really usually taught later on; you wont be able to get much out of it by watchign some vid. My guess is it will bore you. Tiger is very external and very direct and powerful. It will give you a better workout and its quite effective.

Try Amazon; theres tons of stuff there.
