Are there any Kung Fu books that you would recommend?

It depends what you want them for.

From my experience, you can't learn Kung Fu from a book, not even the basics. A reason for this is because, books display picture and usually a brief description of a movement. You may see the start and end of a movement, but the important part is how you get there (hope it makes sense.) and IMO a book is incapable of showing this.

Using books for reference is fine aslong as you know the basics, and have a good strong understanding.

There are other disadvantages of learning a book.

However, read books to get a understanding of CMA and philosophies which may help your training if you find a school.

I've found "Art of Shaolin Kung Fu" by Wong Kiew Kit to be a good read. Though it does go into the more "mystic" parts of the art in the end of the book.
