from what I've read, Kung Fu comes from a mixture of Indian boxing styles and Yoga, and developed to be a more complete martial art due to robberies of the temples etc. It was a constantly evolving art, so where it started, or when it started being called Kung Fu is definitly something people have been arguing about for centuries. -
Do you mean KF as in a martial art trying to achieve Kung Fu (very rough translation = "skill achieved through hard work and time"), or do you mean KF as in CMA which were named KF by a province of China (where Honk Kong is) who made films, reffered CMA as kung fu, and spread this name via these Movies?Comment
