  • tai chi - how to borrow enemy's strength?

    Can someone show me how to borrow the enemy's strength? Cuz im really curious and confused on how they do it.

    Well when we kicked the iraqi's out of kuwait...that was a pretty good example of saudi arabia borrowing its enemies strength .....

        okay seriously do you study the arts? if so which ones? and how long? that might make it easier to answer in a way you can follow.

          I studied tae kwon do, im a yellow belt. But i stopped, since people there keep bullying me.

            bullying?? how so? are you young and less than durable? are your class mates trying to toughen you up or are they really picking on you? if they are showing you holes in your defense perhaps they are doing you a favor...

            sorry but with only TKD (i dont know any) to use for examples im lost on how to explain borrowing force...perhaps a tkd guy like excessive force can help you out...

              You really need to be in front of someone to show them how to borrow someone strength. Its hard to describe with word. And you have to train to be able to do it against an opponent, i.e. train to feel your opponents strength (by this I mean the direction your opponent is strongest/weakest in when you absorb them)

                I'll take a stab at it.
                To make it easy we'll pretend that either you're being pushed or pulled.
                Most people resist pain. If you push someone on the chest, most people will push right back. If you grab someone and pull them, most people will pull away and try to run or whatever.

                To use their force against them, go with them.
                If someone were to push you, instead of pushing back, grab them and pull them with you attacking on the way.
                If someone were to grab and pull you, instead of pulling away, go into them faster than they are pulling. Go in with elbows, knees, etc, keeping them offbalanced and smothered.

                You can start with drills where you push your training partner and he pulls you in, Then he pushes and you pull him in. Back and forth practicing how to react abnormally to pushes and pulls. It's sensitivity training.
