I believe it was taken from the Shaolin boxing method of 'squid boxing', the exponent makes like a squid (or prawn) with his palms as the feelers and using a concave body so that he is able to attack the opponent but the opponent is unable to reach him.

Once inside you usually sweep or throw the guy. Earle used to be a wrestler...as you can see if you want to trace its lineage, It comes from the Diagonal striking methods of Mongolian wrestling
I watched the clip again, I get your point. Thanks for the clarification.

I was so impressed with MR. Montiague i've been checking out what the web has to offer on him, he's quite well written, not just tai chi, but dim mak as well. I've been trying to pull off that fajin punch on my wave master, it's not as easy as it looks.

What he shows in the clip is interesting. However, notice like the other guy is simply deprived of all kind of aliveness and energy. He just stands in guard.

The problem with MAs training and drills is always that you see practically no movement by the "victim" or by the "aggressor".

The attacking move shown in the clip should be trained in a realistic scenario. The two start a fight with verbal assault, posturing, and then they have a go (full power). Then we could judge the effectiveness of his attack.

If you wanna make it real, let the other guy sucker punch you first, THEN start fighting. Thats how most of em start.

Haha, I wasn't talking about sucker punching a teacher. I was talking about getting sucker punched. If you are drunk or high and the short fuse fat man that for some reason thinks your Jimmy Drake some guy from North Dakota that slept with his girl friend. You tell him thats not who you are, he goes oh I'm sorry man. Walks away you turn back to your drinks and start talking to your friends or girl and you get tagged in the back of the head. That's what I'm talking about.

like i said, someone wasnt paying attention.

Little rule of thumb...if a man goes out of his way to get in your face, and alcohol is involved...he came with the intent to hurt you...no matter what he says or does...he is waiting on the moment you forget...

Like i said, they dont call them sucker punches for nothing.
