      wow,

that was a pretty crazy experience. im glad you survived it. one of my students recently was attacked by 6 guys with knives and screwdrivers. the first thing they did was try to break a whiskey bottle on his head which he blocekd and broke. then they surrounded him, and when he took care of one of them the other would stab my student. all in all my student got stabbed around 6 times in the front torso, with the most deadly one being on the side of his peck (not pecker) it could have killed him.

months before this these same group of guys tried to jump him and his friend, my student was untouched while his friends nose was shattered. because of this incident i stopped teaching forms and focused on fighting. so i would make one person fight against 3 people. eventually this paid off because when those guys attacked my student the 2nd time he was ready for multiple attackers. the stab wounds were so minor he was in practice the day after it happened.

my student admitted if it wasn't for his gung fu training they would have killed him. regardless, from eye witnesses, thats funny eye witnessses because one of the guys was missing all his front teeth and both of his eyes were swollen shut do to some nicely planned chop choy's and cup choy's.

just thought id share that story.

      glad you're okay.

No offense Oraenor but I agree with Thi Bri your story reeks of being a "story"

          eg

Amazing how you know the extent of this "attackers" abilities

I see but if you were in the mood the attackers could have there way with you

This is the kicker, unless these "attacker" were between the ages of 8-12yrs you are stupid and could have had your throat cut

But hey only Oraenor knows the truth. I would also say that you have faulty logic thinking it is always better to rush an attacker. You assume your skills are great and theattackers are not, just because what you "thought" was ply knife was pulledout doesn't mean it was and doesn't mean there were not other weapons. Your best bet was to run for the crowd you later found
hey man I tried to escape anyway I could but in formal wear and a bag, I could not be as mobile as the muggers with sportswear on. The next options I had was yield or stand and fight which was just simple kicks.keeping the range was my highest priority, just to keep the knife away. One thing thieves/muggers have against them is time, the longer the operation the higher the risk that they might get caught so standing my ground and keeping them at bay takes away their time. I do not know what these attackers think but I can predict the worst case scenario.

I have to admit that I should've charged at the first attacker and that would've shocked both attackers but my initial thought was just to get away so I dont have to deal with shit like that, obviously it didnt work!

front heel and snap kicks is I guess what you would call it. pretty much just to kick the knife hand when he got close

I know these things happen everyday Gongy. I am a police oficer after all.

But, after hearing a few thousand reports, do you start to guage what has the ring of truth and what doesn't.

This is fantasy nonsense I'm afraid.

I can remember the events because I was not in shock or in panic. The details I do not remember are my attackers, what exactly do they look like or how they are dressed exactly. The event was memorable because it was what I have seen and have heard many times, so the event was predictable.

Mike and I are coming from the same page. It's just that he is more diplomatic. than I am. But, in all seriousness, I will try to be diplomatic also.

You're full of horse shit boy.

That was an interesting episode. Personally I do believed it happened and is probably happening almost every night in some other part of town. I had some experience and advise on such matters. Agree or disagree, well, just my own personal thoughts.

I was teaching a class around 1972 to some young schoolboys/girls in another sport and there was this group of 5 guys making a nuisance of themselves, and here I was trying to tell them to back off and leave us alone etc . but obviously it was not working well with me. Then one of them challenged me and asked me to "come out" (they were behind a fence), in Chinese, it means "come and fight". There were 5 of them and only me. Oh God ! Loss of face !

Anyway, I went out, walked slowly and started thinking hard while walking. I remembered what Chan SM told me in situations like these when you are outnumbered - you either walk away or you play poker with them (challenged them back), and if in the event that a fight is inavoidable, pick one and make sure he splattered a lot of blood, meaning go for his nose where there will be a lot of bleeding, and this will make the rest of them think twice before attacking you.

They were slightly smaller build than I am. Anyway I walked up to them, told them I'm here already, so what do you want to do ? Want to fight ? OK, but who will be the first ? Told them that I can hit so hard and move so fast that I will take at least 2 or 3 down before I get hit. Nobody moved. I then said "well, if you guys don't want to fight, either get out of here or you can stay and watch the girls, but no disturbance, please" and I started walking back and away.

They sent feelers out to contact me the next day, and we "talked peace" but later on, I found out that they were actually scared of me because I dared challenged them back - if only they knew that I was actually scared stiff !!

My comments - if you are a trained pugilist, and there are only 2 or them, go for the smaller/weaker one. They will not be able to handle a direct frontal attack. Don't "dance" around or waste time. Just go straight in and attack - no fancy stuffs, just go in to finish one, then you will probably not have to worry about the other one, or at least, then it is one to one. If you have to run, move away from them but facing them.

This will be my last posting for some time as I will be leaving for Africa this evening. Will be there for some time.

There may be some parts of the story which seem exggarated. But i don't think its a total BS story.
He may have been hit hard in the head but not realise it. Like you say people don't fully recall what happen. Alot of the times, when you get hit in the head, your head doesn't move that much The only things that really throw your head around is a solid Uppercut. Most jabs/hooks don't really shift your head that much, if it did we'd have alot of boxers with broken necks after every match.

When i spar, i don't fully remember what happened during the sparring but i can recall enough to tell what happened and piece together certain parts through injuries/bruises that come up abit later.
I'd often play rubber knife fights with my brother, and unless the attacker has a good skill(which neither of us has) with the knife it is relatively easy to kick the knife hand without getting touched by the knife(doing a cresent kick to disarm like in the movies is another thing altogether).

There are some fishy parts to the story but its not really in the region of "beyond all reasonable doubt" to put this story down as complete BS.
