If you want purely flashy martial arts, go to like www.trickstutorials.com, also Google Team Ryouko and so forth. Martial arts tricks have evolved into a sport all their own. Wushu and Capoeira are probably the most acrobatic martial arts. If all you want is the ability to do tricks though, just get a book and learn all the basic traditional martial arts kicks, and sign up for gymnastics class. If you can do front kick, side kick, back kick, hook kick, wheel kick, inside and outside crescent kick, etc....you can self-teach yourself all the kicks, especially if you get full splits (trickstutorials will teach you that in the Flexibility section). For things like backflips and such, that's why I say sign up for gymnastics.

I just came across and once more somebody says something agains Flashmavi. And nobody never DEFENDS.
How come? This is the only free site that really gives instructions.
Instructions for those who DONT have the money to buy expensive books or to pay a personal instructor.
I used to visit bilang and trickstutorials before and there were only unfriendly fuckers who just showed their videos. WITHOUT any instuctions and help. They might give you your oppinion on their message boards, but thats all.
There are very good descriptions in the videos of flashmavi.
Or did u never press the next INSTRUCTION button?
THE ROUND THINK IN THE RIGHT TOP.
Everybody can make a video from his jumps and then say NOW LEARN...
          haha... thats stupid bullshit...
You could also watch the gymnastics olympics in slow motion...IDIOT...
Flashmavi doesnt replace an instructor, but its was me a great help.
          cheers

            Well...
I know trickstutorials and other sites like that.
And the reason why i wok on FM is, that they just dont give any instructions...
I mean everybody can make a messageboard, where everybody posts his videos.
But there aint any instructional videos on those sites. There are only random clips in their lists.
The webmaster doesnt have much work... And the visitors cannot learn much...
Just as Matt said... Watch a gymnastics cometition video in slow motion and try to learn... Good luck.... How can a beginner know what to look for??????????
I could also post my videos at bilang but i dont think that anybody could lern from it....
At the end i know what the movements look like, because i train them everyday. You wont find any move on FM I cannot do myself, and thats why I think the instructions aint bad....
Another point is, that in an animation I can make it easier for the visitors to see an important DETAIL...
However.... When I was 8 years old, i had to save money to buy bad martial arts book and I couldnt afford to go to a gymnastics or martial arts course.
This site is for all beginners who are interested in martial arts, but dont have the money...
And believe me... This animations are painted CORRECTLY....( better then anybody can do them )
            Regards
            MAVI

Actually, trickstutorials.com DOES have instructions, very good instructions, on how to do various tricks such as a double-leg 540 kick, 540 kick, backflip, wallflip, aerial cartwheel, etc... He has very good instructional videos for the body positioning and movement you need to do for these moves regarding torquing your arms and all that.

As for flexibility, trickstutorials.com has a very, very good section on flexibility because he tells all about how strength and hip rotation are what's needed for attaining full splits. he gives descriptions of all the deifferent types of flexibility, and if you notice, his sources are those expensive books, such as Thomas Kurz's "Stretching Scientifically," and so forth.

              Search the site more.

I ve just been comparing the 2 sites.
And i must say they are not the same.
Here are by pro and cons for flashmav and trickstutorials

                1) Id say, go to flashmavi and learn how the moves work. At trickstutorials you can also find descriptions, but their are not involved in the videos with perfect movements including descriptions. Its a fact that Flashmavi is more userfriendly. And i think its a good idea to animate motions and not just use a video. In animations, movements can be made clearer.
BROADSWORD: Well ive been searching on TT for FM-like instructions. I found some texts and seperately a found some videos....hmmm can you send me a link.

                2) BUUUUUT when you have your move down, go to tricksutorials and ask for correction...

                3) Aaaaaand, Trickstutorials has a few more moves to learn, Flashmavis looks like is in partuicular for wushu and gymnastics, while trickstutorials is for tricking in general. You wont find a cork on flashmavi, because this guy only animates stuff he knows and practicees. But you wont find sweeps and floorkicks on trickstutorials.

One more thing. My respect to Flashmavi, becasue this guy really put a great effort into his page. Somewhere on the site he says hes been working 1500 hours on this project. How come all this shit is for free?
TT is just a php-board with 10 sites of text. The rest is submitted by other visitors

10 pages of text? The rest submitted by other visitors? Man, you obviously haven't looked properly at the site. Here is one link to the 540 page. It has a text description and the video for you to download: http://www.trickstutorials.com/index...=content/t_540

Here is the link to the site with the links for all the tricks, most with video descriptions. There are video descriptions of 540, 540 double, aerial cartwheel, backflip, etc...and others: www.trickstutorials.com - you just scroll down some and click on the various trick names.

And while Flashmavi is a great new site, I don't really give a lot of props for all that stuff being free. The guy just obviously likes to share knowledge and has read a lot and knows a lot. Most people don't know crap about that stuff which is why the majority of sites up for it don't give much information. Why shouldn't it be free? Just because someone is willing to share a lot of knowledge, doesn't mean that they need to charge money for it. It is not like he discovered all this stuff himself, he read it from widely available books and learned it from other instructors.

It is a great site though and he deserves props for making it. Usually the people who make these sites don't have any knowledge on exercise science and phisiology, and the people who know everything on his site don't know how to make a website. He is one of the few who does have the knowledge of the body and of website-design to make the website, and then took the time to actually do so.

One thing I don't get on the Flashmavi site though is that in the Backhandspring guide, he mentions that "I know, I know, back bridges aren't very healthy," yet there are numerous authors touting the great health benefits of the back bridge. Makes it confusing for people.

                      hmmmm

                      Well.
Thats the disadvantage of o forum.
To many opinions and and at the end u discuss more then you exercise.

Its better to avoid a back-bridge if there there is a risk of injuring yourself.
Especially if there are other ways of learning something.
Well i still have a instructional video of learning the HBS from the bridge for those who still wanna try it.
                      I learned it this way....lol
It might be haelthy. BUT WHY TAKE THE RISK IF NOBODY IS 100% sure

Mavi your site is very good and has great potential, it's one of the best sites out there for instructions I think. It's a great source for/of information.

As for the back bridge, I know that Pavel and Matt Furey emphasize how it is supposed to work wonders for the back and so forth. I don't know for sure though. I think as long as you don't literally force your back to arch beyond what it is capable of, it is a great exercise. In time, the back gains more arch flexibility. But if you force your back to arch more than you can, it can be bad.
