  • Wooden Dummy Number 2

This is the second dummy I have have made so far. THese things take a lot of work time and planning. This dummy was made to fit the measurments of a person my size.

I have found many of the wooden dummies for sale, while of great quality, (and high price) are made for people of a smaller stature. So since I poor and can't afford to buy one, and because I have friends with lots of cool tools, I made one.

This dummy stands approx. 6.5 tall and is from a cherry tree branch which with much assistance I cut from a live tree. Then I used a draw knife to strip the bark from it. This takes AWHILE.

After this I hand chisled ,in the traditional manner of making a dummy, the square or mortice holes for the arms and the legs. I did however use a power drill to create the pilot holes. The angels have to be just right.
If you'll note the arms are level not offet like mot tore dummies.

Also the leg hs been built so that it can be lifted and manipulated at the knee.

I turned the arms and leg pieces on a wood lathe from 4x4 I bought at HomeDepot. Then i sanded the hell out of the so they wouldn't be too rough. Fill in any cracks with wood filler sand smooth and stain and finish.

The dummy was sanded with an orbital sander then repeatedly coated with stain and finish.

Here are a few posts with pics in them

Where can I place my order?

Your effort reminds me of some of the old Hong Kong Wu Xia films. Where an aspiring young fighter, wronged by the local bully-boy, would set about making himself into a great fighter. This often included strange labours such as building things which would lead to an ultimate technique. Silly, but a lot of fun.

I hope the dummy pays you back for all your effort in bring it to life

I'd like it to be all mythical and story book crap Kid....but it really is just wood...and I'm really am just good with tool and my hands. lol

No bullies no apsiring master on mountain sides just a poor redneck with some time on his hands. And as for ordering one I made two baby I aint making no more.

Besides they are so labor intensive and fit to specifics on the person it's made for they're at least 5 possibly 6 grand to sell one. Thanks for the interest though

                  Glad you asked

The dummy is used to practice attack angels as well as it has specific forms.

An added bonus is training on the dummy does some conditioning especially on the arm bridges.

The dummy never tires and if used properly never gets hurt, and never complains. It teaches you were you can expect and intercept attacks.

(it will also never correct your spelling and grammar either)
