  • Why pivot on the heels?

    Hi,

One thing I've wondered about TCMAs is why do they stand flat footed and pivot on the heels? I can see where sometimes it might be the best choice but, in general, it seems that keeping the weight on the balls of the feet is a more natural and athletic way to move?

Actually different CMA styles use different stances and stepping as well as pivot points. The heels generally provide more power to the pivot while the ball of the foot is used to create faster transitions. Some styles actually strive to keep the heels off the ground constantly.

Actual discussion of similiarities and or differences are more than welcome dude, its the "your shit doesnt work because...." crap I cant stand.

One of the things we usally strive for is keeping the heels off the ground as much as possible, after all a ball rolls because it has only one point of contact with the ground right? Reduce drag and you move quicker.

What style is that? I guess there's a lot of kung fu styles and they're all different.

There are also styles with stomping steps that still strive to keep the heels off the ground like Pa Pan Chang for instance. Its very similiar to Baqua and some even claim its a grandfather to Baqua but there is little evidence to support that although it is older than Baqua. The main difference is the lack of Tang Ne Bu which is replaced with the unicorn step.

Hmm I seem to have a hateful little bitch dogging my posts since I put her dumb ass on ignore....didnt you read the last post to you?

You're just following me around showing the temper tantrums that got you put on ignore in the first place.
