never heard of this guy, and I'm just about to run out and write a midterm but thought maybe you'd have an answer for me when I got back.

Is this guy judoka or chinese martial arts, or what.

I'm only asking because from the two seconds of video I've watched (literally 2) he's wearing what look to be judo esque kimonos, etc....

On the other hand chinese martial arts sub-forum...

So anyway, which is it, is it both, or is it just one chinese style.

    Thanks Chief.

BoarSpear, this was really good clip btw.

This guy started off doing CMA grappling, then he went on to fighting full contact and won a title, then he started doing no-gi and Gi jiu jitsu in which he's a blackbelt in.

Apparently his DVD cover escapes and counters on headlock/chokes, body locks, full nelsons, tackles(?) and wrist grabs(why?).

He is a CMA guy first and foremost with an extremely impressive lineage and a long record of wins in full contact matches of ALL types...He does have a Black Belt in BJJ but his throws and sweeps and entries are CMA (did you get the tubes clip? you should recognize some of that from our basic training vid)...he is very well known as an authority on combat throws from CMA fast wrestling.

His school is a CMA School but he does offer BJJ.

Hmmmm extremely impressive Chinese lineage, interesting.

This next comment in no way takes away, or is supposed to insult or degrade that, but isnt it interesting he still found BJJ useful enough to become a black belt in it.

I got your tubes clip, and I watched it. Nice stretching!

Seriously though I did see some of it in his video, specifiically one throw caught my eye as something u were doing.

To be honest though I dont think I picked up much from your video, it all looked very foreign to me, and I dont know how I'm supposed to realize the value in it (not saying there isnt value in it) without .... commentary or explanation or something. Ideas behind it, etc...

It looked like Tai Chi to me, I have seen some Tai Chi in my time, and thats what it resembled to me.

Anyway, I seem to recall it being the "january" clip.... my question is if theres a february clip coming.

            ------------------------

Edit; Just another thing, that whole dead angle thing, (although called something else) I saw in Judo. Is he taking that dead angle concept from judo, CMA, or both. That was literally the first day of judo for me.

You've got the dvd...I think...no worries though, you know the form...Green dragon holds his head, etc. The throw in the clip is Black bear wipes his paw clean to Black bear turns his backs transition.

I got an email for the last one, but not sure if I will get another one, if I dont let me know so I can check the Tube.

I'm getting more and more interested in the CMA's again, I think back to that little bit of Tai Chi.... golden rooster.... loved that one.

It's definitely one of my favorites to demonstrate.

Actually if I remember correctly, (I'm sure boar will correct me if I'm wrong) its a knee to the groin and palm strike to the chin (I see it more as a chin jab now), roughly at the same time.

Close to gutter fighting, and the groin, i.e. the poverbial gutter...

                            Damn TomYum your smart.

I'd find it hard to throw a knee and palm strike at the same time, simply because the palm strike seems like a longer distance weapon.

I've seen the knee and elbow used simultaneously, in silat and kenpo.
