Can we just get rid of this video already?

It has been brought out as an example for everything form why TMA is no good to a fine example of Internal MA since Wu won. It is neither.

My Sifu was there as was his Sifu they watched the fight. It was in their eyes a disgrace, there was no martial art it was a street brawl.

The whole thing was billed like a modern day super heavy weight fight and it cost people a lot of money to get in. Most of those people were booing and throwing things before it was done.

No one and I MEAN no CMA person in the area at the time that knew anything about it could figure out why the Older Wu fought at all and why he did not have his younger, I believe, son fight

You're right it's horrible, but hiding it isn't the answer. It is what it is and it looked like that for a number of reasons, sweeping it under the carpet doesn't fix the problems.

If you want to look at it as a bad example of white crane and wu style performed by the 2 in the ring that is fine but generally it is brought out as proof of CMA being bad and ineffective which it is not proof of and I have even seen it brought out for proof of how effective Wu style is which it is also not proof of.

I’m also sick of any YouTube video that is posted that is style A vs. style B being used to prove style A or B is better. Obviously if one wants to prove style A is better than Style B they are not going to post a vid of Style A getting it butt kicked by Style B now are they.

Anyone using that video to show their style is effective is defective themselves. Styles don't win fights, fighters do. The video shows that both styles lacked realistic training and expectations. Defense was non existent as was a sense of the opponent. When people spend all their time training against people who train the same art unrealistic application is bound to result since they assume everyone else will fight like they do, this video highlights that quite well.

I've heard about this "legendary fight video" before, but I've never actually seen it until now. After seeing it, all I can say is that neither of them really proved their style was "superior" or anything. Both of them failed to protect their face in any efficient manner. Neither of them was able to coordinate their lower body with their upper body, they just swung at each other and did nothing else. It was quite amusing though!

Last time

My sifu was there he saw it live, his sifu was there, he saw it live. Both thought it was pathetic. But these days if my sifu sees this video he thinks it pretty funny. The video does not prove anything about either style (Wu Taiji and White Crane) it proves the two fighting were pathetic not the style.

And no one at the time understood why the older Wu fought at all

If you need to pull this out (or any video) to show superiority of any style you have little faith in your own style and to much time on your hands that just maybe you should spend training.
