What is the difference between all of the different praying mantis styles such as 7 star PM and KungFuMan praying mantis and all the other PM styles?

By the way I do Seven Star praying mantis also, and I have developed my own style from my practice as well.

It really differs depending on the politics of the style, the region and or temple it came from, and who was teaching it.

A lot of KF styles only differ because someone said "We never did it that way and we aren't going to, we do it this way".

It usually still the same style and principle it may just be the hand or foot position that changes slightly, or even weather or not you use an open slap or a fist.

There are only so many movements and positions the human body can do.

As much as I really like Seven Star mantis and other mantis styles. When I look at the mantis styles out there, I see moves that do not resemble the mantis at all in many techniques. I want to develop a mantis style that uses the mantis claw and a few palm techniques almost exclusively and where the movements resemble the mantis more. I remember when i worked these type of moves out way back when i was about 2o years old or so, they worked very good in combat. If you look closely at the mantis you will see that in all its legs positions you find most of the stances in kung fu. If you use the back of the mantis as a leg as well. But you see clear horse stances, even cat stances, and other stances that we don't even have in kung f. I know you don't see unicorn stances or crane stances. but almost, if you look closely. The trapping hands of the actual insect have to be watched very closely to see the way they catch and defend. Many of the moves are very simple and direct, but effective.

watch some of these and see the techniques, the mantis is so fast you need to slow down some moves even to see.

heres a fun bit, I know its is a movie and there are wires etc etc etc. But notice the interesting mantis poses they take.
