    At 47 seconds

The Strike at 47 seconds is called hon jau. It is a strike with the end of the arm not the wrist and is one of the hardest striking areas of the body.

Bingo, and that's why lineage tracing matters.

You know how Boar never biases a technique? This is why. The power generation method of Hsin Yi and Baji are both from Tong Bei, however the Hsin yi sets focus on using the fist to smash into the opponent as their primary weapon. Baji will use the same power methods but they emphasize the shoulder, elbow and hip bash. The ranges the techniques apply at is different as are the timings of the release of energy.

Keep in mind that every technique should contain the possibility of use as a strike, a lock and a throw. Bias towards any of those will modify the range, timing and power usage of the entire set.

Tong Bei and the arts derived from it are more or less specific timings of specific types of power generation expressed at various ranges. Since all 3 elements (strike, lock, throw) must be present in each technique the thing that defines a system is the range and timings it focuses training upon. Since the principles of combat and the principles of the arts are the same throughout, each art should contain elements of the other.

In other words the timing, range, and thus the different applications that manifest set them apart more than the movements themselves.

The "hand" is from the fingertips to the shoulder, the strike can manifest anywhere along the line depending on range. Biasing the strike to a specific hand position or striking area defines a technique instead of the concept that is underlying the arts power generation and usage.

          Absolutely.

Baji is one of the more straightforward systems within the CMA's.
