By the way are you into TKD competition?
Can you use Ngo Cho Kun easily to counter their kicks?

        Thanks,
        Christian.

Hello Yentao I heard about Christopher Ricketts but don't know Monsoor del Rosario.
            Do you know Tony Tan?

slow you down so I don't block much evade is better than blocking in TKD.
What about catching? Actually I prefer catching, but sometimes it is not possible to catch if it is too fast, so you have to block....
Are you allowed to catch-strike and throw in TKD?

No you can't no catching or grabbing especially in competition. We always use our legs. Actually if a guy can kick fast and powerful it will be useless to catch it only way is to get near. TKD usually fight in distance and usually depends on legs. So if you are near he can't kick.

Tony Tan. No I don't know him but sounds familiar. Do you know who he is?

                  Hello Yentao,

actually there are some very smart ways to catch kicks, in our system we spend a lot of time practicing it in different ways with associated footwork, my GM insists on this....
A sikaran worldchampion (ie filipino tae-kwondo-kickboxing) and his master came to it study with us,
but you cannot always do it and have to know how to block if the kick is really too fast....

Tony Tan is a top student of master A. Diego, I think he is also a Hsing I and Taichi expert, and guess he also does Ngo Cho Kun...

That's right, you can but quite a risk not all kinds of kick can be catch.

We have a lesson on TKD to prevent people from catching legs while kicking. We use a method where in the kick can be more fast and hard to block.

There is a position of the body that can prevent opponents from catching while kicking. And can help counter faster.

                      Hi Yentao,
do you know ground scisors? This is also very efficient versus high kicks....

It is done while dropping to the ground, you have to push your body forward using your arms then sweep-trap-hit your opponents leg for a break-takedown....
It can also be done while rolling....

Ahh.. Ok so you mean you'll go close to your enemy to trap him and sweep for take down.

Yes, it is usually done as a counter.... while your opponent hits high, sometimes middle....

Actually you can sweep him right away, trap one of his legs and break his knee, open his legs and kick his groin...

If you sweep him while he kicks, he will fly backwards and hit the ground with his head...
possible follow ups are strikes to the groin, neck,... jump with both legs holding his head and rotate....

It is very surprising and fatal if done fast at the same time he strikes.....

That's nice, effective. But what if he fakes, keep distance and switch stances with shifting weight from both legs?
