  • I've actually sparred somone who used Tai Chi in its combatitive form. Kicking him was like kicking a bedsheet hung over a rope.

It means even though I "hit" him. I didn't actually hit him. In fact he took my momentum and somehow launched me across the room into a punching bag.

If this is true,I feel sorry for you, because it means you need to find yourself a new school or learn how to train properly,no offense but also means you suck at martial arts.

Tai Chi can't be used for self-defense and anyone who can't defend against a tai chi block has got to be real bad at martial arts.

              • I once kicked a tai chi guy.
                he doubled up...
in a writhing mass of panjama wearing pain.

As a matter of fact, to test your so-called tai chi as a self defense art theorum, I think I'll go down to the park and try and provoke some senior citizens doing their early morning routine into a fight.

OSU, say good bye to that new hip, gramps!

Tai Chi, in of itself, cannot be effectivley used for self defense, unless you are trying to simply push waifish old ladies out of line in a grocery store, or out of line to pick up meds in the old folks home, which is why it is primarily practiced by senior citizens.

Granted this guy was also into his 40's and had been practicing combatitive tai chi for almost 25 years.

                        COMBATIVE TAI CHI?
okay...so...what is it, tai chi with a 9?
****, okay, yeah THAT may work.
but the rest of that flowery, push the air shit won't help anybody, anywhere, in a combative situation.
Say what you will, but Combat Tai Chi is a fucking oxymoron. (and not the type of moron who pops O.C. har har har)

                        yours truly,
                        bunch o' fuckwitz.

                            • Taiji - self defense

I can see taiji as a style similar to aikido for self defense if its concepts are applied...

somehow I can't see it as a devastating style.

anyone else care to share some reference material? or more information?

                              • Man I love the amount of testosterone in this place. It's like I'm drowning only I'm going down beating my own chest.

You "gangstaz" need to realize that me saying combatitive tai chi is like saying, "I kicked someone."

How did I kick them? Where did I kick them? What kick did I use?

You guys are such tools. Go play with your legos and try not to fall down off the short bus.
