ok ile explain boar, its to not use force on force say some1 charges you do not meet there force with your own bodyweight, instead step aside keeping your central point, then knocking them off there central point, hitting them the same direction there going adding to there own charge force, this is implied in taiji at all times while fighting, you use up less energy, moving only when needed with non ridgid swift movements, energy transfers.

Oh,..... you mean nuetralize the incoming attack with circular force, thats a little different that force on force....typically force on force is how external styles fight

            • There are a couple of you guys that are absolutely weird in here with the contradiction of the effectiveness of tai chi and kung fu. Kung fu and Tai chi are one thing, not 2 separate entities. enough said!

actually if you wanna nit pic, taiji is the only martial art you just named....kung fu refers to skill and time and can refer to many things....if youre trying to say taiji is ONE of the internal stlyles that make up the the internal cma's then you are correct...

                • That funny man, Erle Montaigue, is a big fan of "combat" tai-chi.

But of course nobody practice tai-chi in a combat-oriented way, nobody spars with his tai-chi knowledge agaist MuayThai boxers or BJJ grapplers, so you just can't tell whether it works or not -- but it probably miserably fails just because it's not pressure-tested since ages.

                  • and all this time I thought martial arts had more to them than rolling around with BJJers or sparing with MT. Thanks for clearing that up for me

Wasn't the thread about Tai-Chi's effectiveness in real fighting?

Yep i didnt see anything about the effectivenes of MT or bjj...you have thousands of threads that crow its effectiveness...

do you know any taiji personally? or did you see some old people in a park and decide you were an expert on the subject?

Do you have problems or something. You always have something bad to say about something. Say something posotive for once.
