I'm not the one claiming to know it all. If you disagree with me then why not offer your opinion? That is, if you're actually able to form one.
If you think CMA's are crap, why bother even reading the posts? I know, I know, MMA is the greatest and it's totally street fighting, blah, blah, blah..
You are asking if Ramon Dekkers is "the man"...
You are presenting yourself as a master technician of muay thai "from a stricktly muay thai perspective", and you are going on and on about this STYLE VERSUS STYLE nonesense while going through it technique by technique, like the only way you learned the shit is through a video game, or through reading paladin press books.
Sorry.
Even the cop-out "it's not the style it's the person" statement is bullshit. Obviously a 250 lb athlete will murder a bedridden cancer patient. That doesn't give any credibility to the arguement.

If you've read my posts properly, I make it clear that I'm inexperienced, and hence I ask the questions. I never once claimed I was a master-technician of anything. When the heck did I say that? On the other hand, you throwing all these insults, putting people down, you are the one most guilty of trying to act as a "know-it-all". Because who gave you the right to judge? Who gave you the right to claim this is "bullshit" or that is "bullshit"? Do you know for sure if what the other posts are right or wrong? Have you fought a million people and won? And even if you have, that is still not enough, because in the billions of people around, there will always be someone else better. And that is why we never claim we know everything. If you're not mature enough to even handle a little discussion, then no one's asking for your comments, least of all pointless and mindless ones.
Read the prior posts and questions. Almost everyone posted various methods and techniques. We were just trading ideas and giving opinions, without insult or prejudice to anyone or any style. In fact, most of the people who posted did not claim a definite "this will work" or "that will work". We did say maybe yes, maybe no, and even apologized at areas that we were too forward about. And this is what a forum is for. Trading ideas maturely. You just insulted almost everyone. You're obviously trying to tell everyone you're THE mr. know-it-all. Must every post be filled with sarcasm or insult? For what? Because you're incapable of posting actual constructive content because you really are the one who knows nothing?
And boy, are you the smarty pants. Who the heck would wanna compare martial arts styles based on bedridden people? Since when did that even become an argument? You living in your dream world with too much spare time and just looking for trouble?
Man, if you want to form incoherent comments that are just targeted as insults, save it for when you can actually tell it to someone's face.
Sorry.

I looked over my post and still can't find any examples I gave of a 250 a-hole that would even fight a bedridden cancer patient. I assumed people reading the thread would have at least a modicum of common sense, and understand that I was speaking in generalities.
I assume since you don't agree with "it's the person, not the style" you feel that everyone that studies Muay Thai (or any MA) has the same ability, and expertise in that style. Your assertion is completely ridiculous, but then you probably already know that. If it's not the person, then what is it? If it's not the effort and ability of the individual person in conjunction with the art, then what is it? You can teach someone the deadliest MA (whatever that is), but if they never practice they will be useless despite their knowledge of the art.
You yourself said "STYLE VERSUS STYLE nonesense", and you are correct. It's person vs. person, and the style is just the tool they use. Your contradiction of yourself lends little credibility to your argument.

I agree with polecat63 here. It is by no means a cop out saying that it is the martial artist and not the art that makes the fighter. If you think of street fighters who have had barely any formal training, no 'art' has made them, they are just hard guys
Certainly I have known really bad MT schools and very good MT schools. I have trained with MT guys who I destroyed using wing chun and then found other MT guys who destroyed me.
Some of the UFC cage fighters train in not so popular arts and do very well
As an instructor I have had lazy students who weren't very keen to train hard etc, and I have had students who excel and push themselves hard. Wing chun doesn't make them good, it is their hard work
Hey awesome, thanks for sharing... but from a Muay Thai point of view, let's say those traditional MA moves were executed on you, would you have been stopped?
I've been hit square in the diaphragm by a spinning back kick; it made me want to sink and cry.
I don't need to justify shit...
if you guys want to sound stupid, continue to gargle and spew this pretentious shit...
but seriously...
you suck at life.

you were trading techniques in hypothetical situations...if he does this, maybe do this... "Cos I don't think a palm strike can stop the knee strike that easily even when hitting the thigh, unless your elbow lock is really strong and you've really got a strong wrist and won't get it sprained. And the subsequent attacks after that, would it have hurt a well-conditioned MT boxer? "
You sound like you're a dungeons and dragons playing geek.
pps...

Nope...once again, you assume too much, ass. There are functional systems, and there are garbage systems. If somebody trains for their whole life in a garbage system...they'd be better off curling up in a ball, and will be worse for wear than if they hadn't ingrained all those bad habits into their muscle memory.
Functional, combative systems teach people how to fight, and moreover, how to survive and overcome physical situations. It's reflexive.
It's not STYLE VERSUS STYLE, nor is it THE PERSON, NOT THE STYLE.
It IS the person and their tool kit.
If a person is a well conditioned athlete, has all of the physical attributes that make a good fighter, has good mental acuity, can adapt to a situation, and most of all- is extremely aggressive...they've got the deck stacked in their favor. SKILL will not always save your ass. Sometimes it comes down to who's the more malicious, underhanded, and quickest off the gun.
The easiest way to win a fight is to hit first and continue to hit without giving somebody breathing room. Even someone bigger. It's that simple...get there first, don't let up. Skill helps. But some people get caught up in the whole analytical track- the game plan goes away when you get hit, just like the old maxim says.

dude, i was tallking about a video, and why i DON'T think it's practical. man, if even something that minor rubs you the wrong way, you've got issues. nothing wrong with me saying that a palm strike can't stop a knee strike cos i think that's just a BS kind of scenario. cos to me it was odd what was being demonstrated, cos i don't think in any situation it would ever be that straightforward or easy. RELAX.
heh, you sound like a small boy, with this angst teeny kind of talk. chill out. it's just a little casual talk, no need to get yourself so vexed out like you're about to turn red and explode over nothing. all the more you need not concern your great and knowledgeable self if our conversations were indeed so "stupid" and if we were really so pointless. if we suck at life, good. so glad you're so accomplished. so go do big things, don't waste your time over this. i'm even surprised a big knowledgeable person like you has time for any of this. that's just awesome.
