  • Looking for fellow Kuntawistas

Looking for fellow kyuds or kyudais in Kuntaw Ng Pilipinas. Trying to unite all who have trained under Grand Master Carlito A. Lanada. As is with most martial arts, those who have trained tend to move on in life. But, we all share a common bond. This post is to alert those who have trained that there is a gathering this year in North Carolina. I am not sure of the date, but you can check back here later and I will post it.

hello kuntaw guro, i have a question for you... how similar or different is gm lanada's kuntaw to other kuntaw systems being taught, such as indo/malay kuntao or tausug/samal kuntaw? please no regurgitated information as i have read many articles on gm lanada, i am searching for first hand opinion from a current practicioner of the system. thank you kindly!

The Kuntaw being taught today is nothing like the Kuntaw taught before 1972- the art was changed to Karate type style then. But, I think it's roots are Indonesian Kuntao. Many of the skills I learned in 1970 were similar to those of Kuntao I see lately.
Kuntaw of today is just - Okinawan Karate with a different name
